I'll have to go check out what it is going to look like. Do you usually grow just some of what you have & then save seeds for several years & then rotate, so the seeds don't end up getting to old, to germinate ? If I put seeds away, like that , I'd likely forget where I'd put them at !

I just got this one in a trade. Ipomoea orizabensis is a native species of Mexico. It produces a fat root and has exquisitely colored flowers.

Oh great, Joseph. It made it ,huh? I lost a few to that bunny. But the (two good ones) were still around, as a neighbor was hammering shingles on a new shed yesterday & that kept the bunny away, all day long.
I had looked up the 'false Sacamonny" (sp.?) & then saw a yellow flowered Convolvulus, as the "real" one. Made me think back to the day (years ago) when there was 'Syrup of Ipecac' in a bottle & was used in case of "accidental poisining" at home...but that was way back in the 1960's & remember asking about what it was for ! Does that root , last over winter? I've grown yams in the garden, before.. & It helped to get rid of weeds .

I thought maybe, I had read it was from near abouts Guatemala. So, it may really like sun & heat, plus humidity, too. I guess the root, is for surviving the "dry season".

Hi Joseph. Thank you for posting the seedling photos with cotyledons. That #2 sure does look like some that I sprouted, from those pale seeds. After seeing that 'Floating Cloud' really does have dark seeds ( didn't get ' cause of that) then figured it must be #2 that was pale seed instead & have regular 'Sazanami' from seeds, which Ronnie had sent.

I'm not quite sure how dark 'Yoi no Tsuki' will be, but maybe a little more so, than 'Akatsuki no Umi.'.& will eventually find out.. That blue 'Ginro', sure does have quite the variegation in the leaves ! In the past, thought it to be unusual, but really liking the visual effect !
When matters start to get to involving numbers, I can get lost, a bit. But really nice big looking flowers.(They do that alphanumeric too, with some Iris seedlings.)

Is your 'Danjuro, like 'Chocolate Rose Silk', but without the white picotee ?

They are the same species, but Danjuro doesn't seem to have the gene for white margin.

Yeah, I think I had read something online, about the name, not long ago. Trying to get 'Ukigumo' to sprout & just love those Japanese seed packets, though this time was a graphic on reverse, was of the seeds & not the seedling ! By Nichinou.., ordered through Onalee's, website.

After the "bunny rabbit incident", fortunately, some more of the 'Sazanami' (#1) started to sprout again, in the baggy, suddenly. Maybe coincidence, with all the rain that's been happening.
The 'Ukigumo' are starting to expand already, too. Can't really say that I have a "favorite" yet, as so many of them really are quite something else, out of the ordinary. Just wish they'd last a little longer, into the day !

My morning glory made another flower today. It was lavender instead of pink. Photo was taken about the same time of morning as the initial flower photos.

Nice blossom, Joseph. I had some with label as 'Magenta' & had they not been ravaged by the rabbit, may have bloomed ! The foliage (had) nice variegation, too. Will take time for those to recover & if not, then in goes some Sazanami', or 'Ukigumo'. Dollar Tree was completely sold out of a huge inventory of pots, that were just the right size. Had no idea they'd be suddenly all gone, so quickly !
Are you buying those mg cages, that sort of look like for tomato plants, or do they get put together by snapping pieces into place, or what ?

Thanks ShawnSteve!

I bought those trellises from an Ebay vendor located in Japan a long time ago. She is not selling them now. Gardener's Supply used to carry them but no longer. A circular on for tomatoes with 3 or 4 tiers will work.

I have seedling of Akatsuki no Umi that has uniformly yellow cotyledons - no sign of green yet. It's the first time I have encountered this situation. It doesn't seem weakened by having no chlorophyll. I hope it survives.
