This cross is not registered yet (that's why it shows the parents names).

It may be a Blc. (everyone gets confused these days with alliance names) but it will have a brand new grex name. Sometimes the parents names are included like Chase's Moon or Chasebeam. But that's up to the person registering it I believe.

question about Dendrochilum wenzeli..mine flowered ..the flowers started to turn red
then just suddenly turned a tan straw color..is this yet another form of bud blast? Is it
angry that it didn't get to move to the greenhouse like the other plants, and instead
went to the window in the bathroom?

I tend to blow it when I move anything from where they are spiking. Did it initiate the spikes in the bathroom or did you move it there recently?

Looking back at my earlier posts..I moved the plants into the greenhouse on Feb 2, so the Dendrochilum wenzeli
got moved into the bathroom then. The window orientation is the same, the only difference is the sunroom got cooler
at night...mid 50's I'm guessing, and we keep the house at 69.

If there's decent light tomorrow I'll take a fresh photo for a proper comparison.

They already look a bit flat in form. I would say you shouldn't have moved them till the tiny flowerlets were open. That seems like a big change in temps and probably some humidity changes too. Well we all forget to leave them be when they're spiking. I never learn myself!

Even when you know better, sometimes there is no choice. I had to bring two of my outdoor growers inside to prevent rain damage. I think the Ceologyne will be ok, as it was mostly open, but the Phiocalanthe Kryptonite 'Ursula ' is just starting to show color, so I fear for it. Better to lose the blooms than the plant though.

You are so right, Carol. I had to choose between keeping the plants in spike/bloom in the house
or right to the greenhouse, where I wasn't sure of so many of the variables ...my husband was
eager to shut the heat off in the sunroom (wait till the new bill arrives with the greenhouse heater Whistling )

I am looking at a list of plants to buy and one of them is advertised as having "2 4N parents" I assume(from the price!)
that this is fabulous...but what does it mean?

2N would be diploid, so 4N/tetraploid has twice the number of chromosomes. Many times you get larger blooms on a 4N Orchid, which is a good thing. There are 4N Sophronitis coccinea around which are stunningly large and gorgeous.

Thanks Ursula! Do the flowers look silly being so large and not proportioned to the plant?
If I get this plant would I now have to wear a corsage to dinner at Olive Garden? Rolling on the floor laughing

Absolutely! Maybe a whole plant!
4N usually means the whole plant is bigger.

Well, now I'll have to think about it...my husband is not as excited about
needing an extension on the greenhouse as I had hoped! Whistling Hilarious!
