I bought my Embroidery from a collector that had a plant sale for $10! I think I bought all four that she had and gave the others away.

Everyone's plants are looking so nice! We're still a bit behind and mine are still having a bit of a hard time with maple roots so hoping things improve once the arborist takes them down. I'm going to pot a lot of the small ones this year so I can put them in my veggie bed and reconstruct the garden, sifting out the surface roots from the maples.

No! I've given up trying to divide the solid out of most of my streaked ones. I have 3 that I keep an eye on. I don't buy streaked ones anymore,

My favorite streaker is the large "Justice" I have had it for six years and have had no reversion with it. Others that have done well with maintaining their streakiness include Powder Keg and Dancing in the Rain. Powder Keg does not increase very rapidly.

I had a beautiful streaked Powder Keg. Notice the "had"? It was kind of cashy, so I didn't replace it.

Well, I finally got my pictures from June 6 all edited. It's time to take another round but I like a cloudy day and it's going to be hot and sunny for awhile.

'Alakazaam' new in 2016 and so far, grown in a pot
Thumb of 2020-06-18/ViolaAnn/aa434f

'Allegan Fog' dates from 2006. But it has NEVER set any seed for me.
Thumb of 2020-06-18/ViolaAnn/bd0a26

'Ann Kulpa' was an impulse buy in 2016 because the name is spelled right!
Thumb of 2020-06-18/ViolaAnn/39d876

'Atom Smasher' was a gift from a friend in 2017. Has always been in a pot.
Thumb of 2020-06-18/ViolaAnn/f06aec

'Bell Ringer' was bought in 2010 as 'Liberty Bell' with money given to me by the handbell ensemble I direct. But it had stabilized before I ever got it. The stabilized form is known as 'Bell Ringer'; so still very appropriate. It has grown like wildfire and my intention next autumn is to dig parts of it and offer divisions to as many of my bell group as would like some of it. It's also quite fertile and I've had a number of nice looking, but all-green seedlings from it. I gave those to my ringers with a name of 'Bell Ringer [their name]'.
Thumb of 2020-06-18/ViolaAnn/7ab354

'Blue Mouse Ears' was given to me in 2008. I grow it, and the other "mice" in a round trough overlooked by a watchful cat. I've divided out some for plant sales, another division for elsewhere in the garden and this year, three more for plant sales as I want to keep it in that trough.
Thumb of 2020-06-18/ViolaAnn/8b5fe6

'Blue Wedgwood' was received in a trade in 2005. I suspect it could be larger, but just over the fence from it is a large Linden Tree and it's a challenge to keep it as well watered as it would like.
Thumb of 2020-06-18/ViolaAnn/e08e19

'Brother Stefan' was new in 2008 and was a lovely large plant growing at the base of my oak tree. Two years ago we had a late April ice storm and I thought I'd lost it. Then very slowly, it came back, just a shadow of what it had been. Last year, I concluded that the oak had grown so much that there was no longer adequate soil close to the tree. So, with difficulty, I managed to dig it out and pot it. It's now in a large pot sunk into the back of my veggie garden and I'm watching it to see what happens. The second picture is from this time in June 2018.

A few more

'Captain Kirk' new 2009
Thumb of 2020-06-18/ViolaAnn/7a6731

'Captain's Adventure' - new 2019. So far this year it isn't showing much of the funkiness that this one is known for. BTW, many of the divisions of this on the market are infected with HVX. I chose mine very carefully and I even tested it this year.
Thumb of 2020-06-18/ViolaAnn/79eb40

'Christmas Pageant' - new 2008 but hasn't show much inclination to really grow. Four large eyes that are socially distanced from each other. And one of them is sporting this year.
Thumb of 2020-06-18/ViolaAnn/eb1031

'Country Mouse' - one of my favourite minis. I let it live with the BME family but it's a mouse from a different family. This division was new in 2013 after my original one perished the year that I tried leaving the trough in my enclosed porch.
Thumb of 2020-06-18/ViolaAnn/8b27a3

'Cracker Crumbs' - new in 2005. I've got one division in a pot and a bit of a border of it too, but it hasn't really filled out well as a border. This is part of the border and there's a sport this year. I've got another similar sport in another clump too.
Thumb of 2020-06-18/ViolaAnn/b3be2c

'Dancing With Leila' - this is a seedling from 2009. One that beat the odds and is a reverse variegation from its parent 'Last Dance'. Because it looks so much like the commercially available and related plant, 'Dance With Me', I've given a nod to that name in the name I gave it which also honours my second granddaughter.
Thumb of 2020-06-18/ViolaAnn/c4972b

'Dee's Golden Jewel' and 'Praying Hands'. What I'm calling 'Dee's Golden Jewel' is actually the solid yellow that I divided out of my 'Jewel of the Nile' in 2012. JOTN sported from DGJ. And 'Praying Hands' was new in 2007. It occupied several parts of my yard before I saw one half its age and twice the size in a friend's garden where it got full afternoon sun. I moved it and it has taken off in size.
Thumb of 2020-06-18/ViolaAnn/26ecef

'Deja Blu' was new in 2007 and has grown well for me. It resides in this narrow garden with paths on either side and had gotten too large; so I divided it last autumn.
Thumb of 2020-06-18/ViolaAnn/a03986

'Dorset Clown' was new in 2012. This one is sometimes unstable and last year I had to divide out quite a bit of solid blue - 'Dorset Blueblood'.
Thumb of 2020-06-18/ViolaAnn/32c1ff

'Eleanor Lachman' - new 2012 and I think of my late friend Eleanor when I see it. But I think it may have a bit too much sun in this location as quite a few of the leaves have been developing melt-out early in the season.
Thumb of 2020-06-18/ViolaAnn/ff26a7

'Electrocution' - new 2014 and I LOVE this one. You really can see how it got its name.
Thumb of 2020-06-18/ViolaAnn/0cc4da

'Emerald Ruff Cut' - new 2009. Has grown well. Is also fertile and has given me a couple of nice seedling that have leaves with pie-crusted edges

This is Delicious and a teeny sport from my Curly Fries in the evening sun yesterday. Longfield's Butterfly Daylily on the left.

This is the first year I've decided I like the solid green sport, which is 5 yrs old. It's about 2.5" tall and 8" wide and hasn't gotten any larger over the years. I am going to call it Shoestring Fries in my own garden 😸

More pictures

'Fire and Ice' - new 2012. This one has grown very well since we had to remove a large ash tree.
Thumb of 2020-06-18/ViolaAnn/64f4d6

'First Frost' - new 2007. Not terribly large, but is growing well. Bright yellow margins earlier in spring.
Thumb of 2020-06-18/ViolaAnn/ec9bf2

'Frisian Pride' - new 2012. This one is growing slowly. I decided that it might be too close to my oak tree. As the tree has grown, some of the hostas in close proximity have declined in health because of lack of soil. So this year (after the picture was taken), I dug it and potted it. I think it will also look better in a raised pot where the leaves can cascade over the edge of the pot.
Thumb of 2020-06-18/ViolaAnn/e3b7c2

'Frosted Dimples' - new 2007. A good-size but fairly flat mound that retains its powder-blue colour well during the season.
Thumb of 2020-06-18/ViolaAnn/cd27b9

'Galaxy' - new 2016. This is an update for the picture I posted earlier, showing the size of the plant.
Thumb of 2020-06-18/ViolaAnn/1184cb

'Ghost Spirit' - new 2008. I like this one a lot and it looks very different from year-to-year in how much misting the leaves have.
Thumb of 2020-06-18/ViolaAnn/0a31b8

'Grand Prize' - new 2011 and has grown well.
Thumb of 2020-06-18/ViolaAnn/8c7cc5

'Gypsy Rose' - new 2009 and doing well after a slow start in which for a few years it put forth (uninteresting) several sports.

A few more

'Halcyon' - new 1990s - one of my first hostas. The identity of this is not 100% and sometimes I think it's too small. It has been divided a couple of times and this division gets more shade and more moisture than my other and it's larger. But years ago, people on Dave's Garden decided it was 'Halcyon' rather than 'Hadspen Blue'. I had narrowed it down to those two. I've since reviewed the flower in particular and stay with that decision.
Thumb of 2020-06-18/ViolaAnn/56129b

'Hanky Panky' - new 2013 and doing well.
Thumb of 2020-06-18/ViolaAnn/9a84ad

'Heavenly Tiara' - new 2011. This is one that needed to be moved after we removed our ash tree. It grew fast in more sun but faded badly. It likes the new location.
Thumb of 2020-06-18/ViolaAnn/d77bc8

'Heidi Ho' - seedling from 'Spilt Milk' in 2013. This is named after my third granddaughter and it's going to be a large plant. There are now divisions in Heidi's yard and in her other grandparents' yard.
Thumb of 2020-06-18/ViolaAnn/4bd8c1

'Hidden Cove' - new 2008. A mini that did poorly where I originally had it. It likes the new location better but hasn't grown a lot.
Thumb of 2020-06-18/ViolaAnn/e57942

'Invincible' - new 2005. This is a beautiful, shiny solid-green hosta at this time of year, but unfortunately, the slugs LOVE it and later in the summer it will be full of holes.
Thumb of 2020-06-18/ViolaAnn/6321a6

'Island Breeze' - new 2015. Of this family of hostas, (sport of 'Paradise Island' which is a sport of 'Fire Island') this one has grown best for me.

And the last for today -

'June' - new 2006. One of two divisions I have. This one gets morning sun and is larger. It also catches stuff from my oak tree.
Thumb of 2020-06-18/ViolaAnn/e681e2

'Katsuragawa Beni' - new 2006. I've been lukewarm about this one at times. Once divided it and sent most off to plant sales, but kept it in a pot for may years. It's now at the back of my veggie garden and seems to like it there. Nice red petioles.
Thumb of 2020-06-18/ViolaAnn/ed2a2f

'Kifukurin Ko Mame' - new 1990s. This mini is a delightful little hosta that grows fast, divides easily and makes a wonderful border plant. I have it in four places in my yard, though one of those places is too dry and I think I'll be moving the tiny bit that's there.
Thumb of 2020-06-18/ViolaAnn/137b7c

'Kinbotan' - new 2010. Great, fast-growing mini. Makes a great ground-cover hosta and would likely make a good, low border as well.
Thumb of 2020-06-18/ViolaAnn/b4a6b3

'Korean Snow' - new 2004. I like this one with its misted leaves. Have never divided it but might as this year it just looks crowded to me. Maybe it just needs more water.

I was going to go up in person, but the Covid put a stop on that plan.I have not ordered from them yet, between dividing hostas, I'm just trying to catch up.

Looking forward to one called Bloodline that I just saw in the Hosta Journal.
