Years ago my mother used to say to me, she'd say, "In this world, Elwood, you must be" - she always called me Elwood - "In this world, Elwood, you must be oh so smart or oh so pleasant." Well, for years I was smart. I recommend pleasant. You may quote me.
Here is a little mini pond I made for the deck this summer. I have really enjoyed it so far. It is near a seating area so I get to see the visiting dragonflies up close. I forgot the name of this lotus. It was Texas something.

Yep, I got I thing for rocks as well and do a lot of dry stacking and collecting rock wherever I go. The rock behind them is stacked up high around a large stock tank. My lovely horse decided to get inside of it and it busted a seam so I put a liner in it and made it into a pond. The carved rock was part of a broken piece of artwork a friend left here, so I drilled a hole through it for a fountain. I blew my pond electric outlet so no cool water features this summer until we get it fixed.
This is the first flower on Wanvisa, a new one for me. It is a hardy with characteristics of a tropical. The petals are sort of translucent with stripes and spots. This photo was taken yesterday just as it opened. Today it is proudly standing about 5" out of the water.
Minds are like parachutes; they work better when they are open.
Alice, Very nice I have a new orange WL, well it is suppose to be orange but more peachy, It's hardy and has patterned leaves. I must look for the striping yours has and see if mine has that. I haven't gotten a good pic of it yet. The color always washes out in my pics, too much sun.
The water willow is blooming, such small delicate flowers a real fav of mine.
