I picked three small cucumbers today and that is it. The last of them and they are done for sure. I will be pulling them out shortly. Can't complain. Cucumbers did really well this year and have never lasted this late before.

Picked lots and lots and lots of tomatoes today. Can't believe they are still coming so well this late in the year. Been such a great year for tomatoes for me but they are finially starting to come to a close.

We're finally getting enough ripe tomatoes here!

The second batch of cucumbers just started producing as well...just in time, too, as the older vines are just about finished.

All of my *perennial* mums are opening, and the ornamental kale and cabbage are coloring up.

Late summer sunflowers, asters and goldenrods are beginning to show as well.

Must get some new photos soon. Smiling

OH! ...and I have peas!!!!! Hurray! Not at bunch yet, but a few. Thumbs up

I don't think I've ever tried to split an aster before, Veronica. I consider myself lucky if mine last two or three seasons. *Blush*

Sorry, I'm not much help.

Some of my bulbs came so I got them planted already, 872 tulips so far in ground. I ordered so many bulbs to plant thus fall that spring should be really lovely. Daffoldils, dutch iris, crocus and more tulips will be comeing. So there will be much more planting to do yet.

Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Yes, of course I will. Thumbs up Green Grin! nodding

Bulbs go in the flower beds, which are mostly the daylily beds. So they don't take up any extra room. My tomato garden areas are already expanded for next year and I have lots of room so I will be having more tomato plants next year than last.

I have a Tall Bearded Iris Bed in the middle of my backyard flower bed. I admit that backyard space is mostly daylilies though. So this late spring I had moved some iris from the very end of the bed near the pathway and put up a vertical trellis and planted cucumbers. Now that the cucumbers are all done for the year and the vines are long pulled out I can see more of what I need to do in order to put in place my plans of more veggies. First off I redid the two metal fence posts I had already used because I had really put them in all leaning all over the place. That is what I get for planting first and trying to fix it later. But now I was also able to measure and put in another two four feet down. So I will have more trellis space for next year. In between I have plenty of space for accress to pick when they are full of fruits.

Now that those posts are in for trellis, I will be needing to move some more iris again. But now I know where the veggies will exactly go and I can see what needs to be moved. Makes things much easier when I can actually see it out in the garden instead of just plans in my head.

Besides those bulbs already planted I have those bulbs already ordered from this spring still coming.

But I had ment to also order from Scheepers, never got to doing it. But was thinking about it yesterday. So today I go to Van Engelen, the wholesale division of Scheepers and much cheaper in larger quantities. I ordered 1,600 MORE bulbs. I really must be daft.

600 crocus
100 iris RETICULATA
250 daffodils
650 tulips

Fall is now in full swing. Since there is not a new thread yet, here is a picture of what's blooming in my fall garden.

Lots of space because I put them in and around all my daylily beds. The bulbs bloom early and by the time the daylilies are even really, really leafed out the bulb show is finished. Then the daylily leaves help hide the bulb folliage. It is a lot of work to get the darn things planted and I have been very busy.

Plus I do love tulips and tulips just have to be replanted. At least the kinds I always had needed redoing. I have lots of types this year that should be comming up year after year but still, I can't stay away from my fancy tulips that I just had to have and replant again. They often go in the same spots, replanted where there were planted before.
