Stephanie, I'm curious as to whether the first one will
bloom like that again, or turn into a real double or single.

I think the 2nd one will bloom tomorrow also. Maybe the
tiny teeth will expand.

Thanks for your welcomed comments.

I'm crazy about the Victorian Lace x Gary Colby seedling! LOVE it! I used Victorian Lace a lot last year, and tried this year, but I don't thing I got any seeds from it this year. Can't wait to see what last year produces though!

Shirlee you just never know what they will end up like until they are mature. I have not had that much experience that way yet but have seen others end up with s complete surprise from first bloom to maturity. It will be fun to see and compare to these pics. next season. Also I notice a lot of people can tell what it will be like on rebloom if they get any as they have matured enough by then usually they say.

It rained on and off all day so couldn't get any photos, although
I tried, but they looked soaked.

Natalie, you're gonna have a long winter wishing for spring
so you can see all those vlace seedlings!!! I bet they make
you happy too.

Stephanie, you are so right. These flowers can really fool ya.
I have had some go from pretty to ugly or vice versa from one
year to the next. That's why I wait at least two years for final
evaluation. On a few I may wait longer, especially if the entire
plant has a lot going for it, but three years is my limit.

Sometimes even the best of flowers can have an off year, which
is mostly weather related. So, when evaluating seedlings,
that too is considered.

A few more. It was in the 50s last night, so I am surprised
these managed to open. The first one with the rain drops is a photo from
yesterday. It didn't melt as much as the others that bloomed yesterday.

Three today. The first one is better than its sib shown before.
The second shows some improvement, but not yet defined.
The third one bigger, and without the raindrops as shown before.

Rita, that first one surprised me with all that edge for the first flower
to open. Now I have to wait a couple of days to see what it will do
next.

Cindy, I can't believe having seedlings bloom this long. They were
just planted this spring. I can't believe they are blooming at all.

We're getting things prepped for winter. Most of the veggie
garden is cleaned off with only a few tomatoes and peppers left.

I start seedlings inside, and keep them inside during the winter,
then plant them in the ground around April or May depending on weather.

Now have this year's seedlings coming up inside. Planted 880 seeds SO FAR,
and all total they won't be nearly as many as last year. The seeds start to
germinate in 7 to 8 days. Usually takes longer. This has been a very
different year in every way for daylilies. All these differences is just
amazing me. Expected blooms to end a long time ago.

Well I was out in the garden and found a new scape. Think it might be a seedling. Hope it gets a chance to bloom.

I was out in the garden too. Noticed that Prissy Girl bloomed, but
did not manage to open at all. Low 50s last night, so unless it
warms up again, I think the end of blooms is near.

The seedlings are opening okay though, so maybe yours will too Cindy.
