Star of India --One day a car stopped at my modest residence filled with daylilies. A guy stepped out of the elegant black car and said, "I would like you to put in some daylilies at my place." Aha, a way to extend my garden! This is the view from some of his daylilies now.
Mantis, Dave and Jill, thanks for getting to month off to such a great start and thanks to everyone for the compliments on my garden. It's getting to be the time of the year when it's hard to keep up with everything, but I know as soon as August hits things will come to a near stop so I'm enjoying every minute.

ZYZZIFIED - I think this is a rebloom because this plant put up two tiny little scapes soon after it arrived in the early spring, and there was absolutely no pattern on those blooms. But now with this new scape I was blown away by the pattern when I saw it this morning -- love it!
Charley, like that Don't Mess with Me, but I shouldn't even look at those Carpenter evergreens.
Dana, Plum Tuckered caught my eye. Is it fairly sunfast?
Betty, I see Mint Jellies is a dormant. How do dormants do for you in your part of California? I've visited at SLO, not too far from Bakersfield.
Susan, how does Now or Never perform for you in 5B? Certainly is a looker. So is Velvet Rainbow, but so many Petits don't flourish here, and if you don't hybridize, well.... Two Sues has been a show-off in clump here. It clumps rather fast.
Mantis Now or Never was new to my garden last year and so far seems to be doing well. Even with near 100 degree temp today it wasn't bad looking in the afternoon.
Mantis, I've learned the hard way to pretty much avoid dormants, especially those coming from northern hybridizers, because they just simply dwindle away and disappear within 2-3 years in my climate. But I checked with Guy Pierce before ordering, and he indicated that MINT JELLIES is not a hard dormant -- so I decided to go ahead and we'll see...
