Is that you, Joannabanana? Great to see you. Hi, Daylily. We'll have a pet forum within our rose cubit, so get those photos and stories ready. Dana, I'm so glad you're here. Life goes on as always, huh?

I'm about to take delivery of two more feral kittens in a few minutes, so it'll take me a while to get them settled in the cattery (which previously was the screened porch where I enjoyed some bug-free time to relax with my meals), but sometime today I'll start setting up the forums for our cubit. They'll be fairly general in nature, but you'll be able to create more specific threads within them.

The general titles will include member information and activities; questions and suggestions; rose nursery reviews; rose growing; rose planting; rose care; pests and diseases; pest, disease, and cultivar identification; and whatever else you can think of that's general.

Kittens are here. See you soon.

Hi Joanne and Angie... Glad to see you here! Come check out the Clematis cubit as well. =)

Two more kitties, Zuzu? How have your neighbor's cats settled in? Are they still wondering where their mama went?

Hi, Evey. Their mama moved to Colorado in search of work, but found the job market there to be even worse than it is in California, so she moved back here and is currently hunting for a job and a new apartment that allows pets. She visits Frodo and Tiger here two or three times a week and they're all happy as clams when they get together. I hope she'll succeed in getting all she wants and reclaiming her kitties soon.

Zu, How's my Jasper these days? I haven't forgotten him either.

BG: I'll eventually work my way over the Clematis forum, too!

When I get time, I'll be finishing the startup of the Carolina gardening forum.

Got a meeting tonight, so BBL or tomorrow.

Ciao

Zuzu, I'm glad the family could be reunited!

I think you should leave the title of this forum and thread exactly as it is. I get a chuckle out of it every time I read

The Welcome forum: Welcome to the Welcome forum!

It makes me think of a phrase that hubby and I picked up from M*A*S*H many moons ago... a quote from Frank Burns... "It's nice to be nice to the nice!" =P

speaking of cats ive been meaning to ask you zuzu, how do you get a cat to be outside and stay around the house.. i used to when i was a kid.. i want a cat or two to hang around in the garden.. mainly to chase the bunnies off. but im afraid they will run away.. we recently saved a cat from a cardboard box.. hes great but dh wont let me take him outside. (hes afraid he will run away).. besides he turned out to be a mouser ..which i was hoping for. we get a family once and a wile. he actually put a dead one on me wile i was asleep. i guess that is a good thing but it was gross...so i figured id get a couple garden cats and leave rintu inside. yes i have 2 dogs but the rottweiler will not stay outside... he hates it. and the 3 legged pug could care less about the bunnies. he couldnt catch them anyway. do i just open the door and hope they stick around ??

I keep cats in the house for a decent amount of time, Dana, just to get them accustomed to seeing me as a source of food and affection, and then I give them free run of the property. I do go out with them the first few times. In spite of any and all precautions, some cats will wander away. It's happened to me a couple of times and I've been so offended to know they preferred another house in the neighborhood, but cats will go where they want, especially if someone else provides better food and affection.

I will leave the title as is, Evey. It'll remind me of the folly of rushing into things before I've read the instructions, and I think the Frank Burns quote should be an iron-clad rule in every forum.

Brigitte, how wonderful to see you again. I also have cut way down on rose purchases. I already have so many roses and so little room that I'm only buying the most appealing of the new ones. I ordered fewer than 10 this year.

i keep wanting to add more peonies but the fact that they take 2 yrs to get settled always makes me go for something else... i guess i need instant gratification.. but i was so happy when my sarah b. bloomed last yr. it smelled soo good. it was about the size of my face.

I've asked Sue to be my co-administrator in this cubit because I want to stay on top of things as much as possible, but I work at night and I usually don't get up until the afternoon. Besides, this way you can complain to Sue if I get snippy. Sue's perennially nice.

Now I just have to figure out how to add her as a co-administrator.

Thank you, Dana. Good instructions. It's done.

That is a hilarious picture, Joann. I had just been looking at photos of Daylily's cat in the pet cubit, and I guess that was still on my mind because I called Dahlianut "Daylily" and said something about pets.
