I think this may just be that my browser (IE7) is doing wierd things again. I seem unable to "Star" a forum post successfully.
I hit the Star in Post #283275, and was bounced back up to the top of the thread. I went back and checked, and found that the "Star" did not "take". It isn't showing up in my list of Starred Pages, and the Star in Post #283275 is still dimmed for me.
Probably it's just IE7's fault ... and yet I used to be able to Star forum posts, I have 28 starred pages. The ones I just spot-checked all still work (I can jump to those single posts by single-clicking ).
I also tried to "thumbs-up" that post, and again bounced back to the top of the thread again.
(If "Thumbs" are now the same as a Facebook "Like", I know I can't do those and never could. (Nor do I care.) But in the past, I used to be able to click some icon in ATP, and increment a counter to show I enjoyed something and reccomended it to other ATPeople.)
BTW, if bouncing to the top of the thread is the usual action after Starring or Thumbing a post, I wonder how easy it would be to make the default action stay-where-you-were in the thread? If someone just started reading a long thread, finding their place again after starring takes a while ... if, like me, they forget that you go to your profile and find that Star immediately.
BTW, here's another wish-list item. Curently, my List of Starred Pages shows the thread title. Often, what I was interested in the starred post has little to do with the thread title. Now, if the entires in our Lists of Starred Pages were user-editable, we could rename each link to something meaningful to us. Just a very minor frill.
