Maybe for you, Evan. The quarter (tape) wouldn't stick to my leaves.

First I want to say - let's get serious! Traveler palms, leaves are 12ft. in the air, and some are 10ft long from the axil.

What are you growing there purpleinopp? Nice colors all around.

Elaine looks like a 50 gal drum might do better for scale on some of yours. First sizable leaves just starting to pop here but just on a few and by northeast standards, so please keep them coming. Here's Thailand Giant Strain, maybe 28" across. Thumb of 2012-07-20/eclayne/bbc1d3

Holly, the biggest leaf on Blue Hawaii is 28in. long. It's growing a new leaf about every 4 days, too. Drinks like a sailor, though, I'm watering it twice a day when it doesn't rain.

I just moved it up into this corner by the pool where it gets morning sun, and is shaded all afternoon so maybe that will slow it down enough that I don't have to re-pot it again, It's been in that 18in. pot for less than a month and already looking like it could use more room . . . In addition to the elephant ears, there's Persian shield, Caladiums, Perilla magilla, sweet potato vine, and some other stuff over in that corner.

Here's a huge Coleus leaf:

I had no idea Xanthosoma 'Variegatum Monstrosum' got so big. Looks great! Alocasia plumbea 'Metallica' and MM will be on my hunt list for next year. Your trops are starting to take off Holly. Can't wait for August pics.

This is the first year MM has gotten such big ears. We were on a garden tour and I may have hit them with a little more fertilizer than usual.

Tibouchina grandiflora, also known as Large leaf Princess Flower. Propagation from softwood cuttings. Leaves have a fuzzy feel to them. The blooms are long lasting, but it only blooms once a year.....for me, that is. I bought it at Caldwell's Nursery in Rosenberg, TX (outside of Houston) years ago. Because the leaves looked so delicate, I kept it in a shaded location. It grew, but never bloomed. Decided to read up on it and found it liked the sun so I moved it to partial sun (full sun here is usually a killer), and it bloomed that year. I still keep it in a pot.
