Do you put this in everything or just daylilies? I'm all ears!
Peter rabbit shows up quite frequently here in spring and summer so I also add milorganite.

A couple questions on the tonic Stan - is there anything in your "tonic" that would not be good to use in the Northern climates? Also, on the Osmocote Plus is there a specific one? What size on the Miracle Grow? I'm really thinking of trying this!

Ginny, I have used it around everything.

The Osmocote Plus has micro nutrients in it. Here is a link to check out,
http://www.plantersplace.com/o...

My only thought on Northern climates is cotton seed & blood meal is mostly nitrogen on the scale, new growth could get bit by an early frost.

Stan, have you ever thought about adding some Azomite into your concoction? Azomite is some amazing stuff in my opinion.

Dave would you recommend adding it to Stan's tonic for my zone 5b or would I eliminate the blood meal and cottonseed and add the Azomite here?

All are great ingredients. Azomite is basically volcanic material, but it had a ton of minerals. I use it every spring.

A few years back at a NALS convention, a soil pathologist and plant biologist said minerals is usually a key factor to plants not growing well and flourishing, and a lot of times it's because of a lack of copper minerals in the soil.

But if you think of it in this way, in nature they don't get fertilizer and all that other stuff. They have what's in the ground, but it all generally replenishes itself naturally through the season. Rains wash in new minerals, and then in the fall it gets a natural replenish from the leaves and everything else dying and making a natural compost.

Ginny, forgot to give you an answer regarding the MG... large bag. I buy the big tub with 5 bags in it. I only use 1 bag in the mix.

Dave, I'll look into that Azonite. Thanks for the recommendation.
