I believe it is a Graptoveria...not sure now, they got so intertwined and unruly with the rock purslane in one container, so I had to separate them to find out which one is which Hilarious! I did that early spring.

This is the mommy unruly container it came from:

Thumb of 2012-10-17/tarev/a83314

So had to chop them down, and repot then: these photos taken in early May 2012

Next best chicken?

Thumb of 2012-07-16/Lilydaydreamer/6c6b88

I know that somebody had looked for this chicken but found that it was unavailable.
I found this chicken that differs from above in terms of size of planting space but thought smaller succulents could be squeezed into the holes. The chicken was used by a wine tasting room to contain discarded wine bottle corks. There's a hole in back of chicken large enough to put hand thru to retreive the discarded corks. I've included photo of closer view of chicken torso. The tasting room has a couple of new unused chickens available.

Have you seen the picture frames with succulents? Have you made them, if so how do you get them to stay on when you hang it up?

Teresa they root into the soil behind the moss or core fiber. Lots of times it also has a layer of chicken wire to support everything. Leave it laying flat until it is firmly rooted.

Teresa, sometimes even when the entire frame has rooted, I get birds that rip semps out or a death of one of two semps. So I need to put in replacement semps but still want to have the frame hanging vertically. Here's where the pins come in handy: holding semps in place till they get settled...

Thanks Lynn. Also thanks for posting photos of your in-progress Fall cleaning & thinning out of your raised beds. Gave me a chance to show them to my husband and say to him, "Here's that lady's photos of her raised beds...she's got more semps than anybody should have..." Angry But I did mention to him that you are very generous with your treasures (from what I read on other forums). I repeat, you are an... Angel

Rolling on the floor laughing Bev you sure can make me laugh. Spring time is just around the corner. I send the last of my thinned out semps to the Oregon Garden in Silverton, OR for a new project they are working on. Can't wait to see it.

Hi Teresa. I do have raised beds, last count was 9. I keep threatening to add more.

I liked the hanging/ sitting wire globe which has started to give me a few ideas. This last hanging picture frame of soft wood i have a question. Wont ideal conditions for growing succulents also be ideal condition for fungus? How long will the wood frame last?
Thumb of 2012-11-13/KAMasud/2099bd
Above is a hanging quilt for plants that i made about ten days back and now in process of planting. It has a 8 gauge GI wire frame but not to happy, was thinking of shifting to 1 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch steel pipe or plastic electrical duct instead on my next version. When moist it weighs three times more.
Regards,
Masud.

Chris, thank you for posting that link. Your tutorial was published while I was gone to California, so I didn't know we had such wonderful instructions.

Masud, I can't wait to see your quilt when it is filled in with plants. What are you planting on it?
