That's incredible. We had so much frost here this year that all the peonies are in bud. They don't necessarily bloom every year. They need a lot of frost.

Zuzu - is that why peonies love it here? Huh, I didn't know they needed frost! And the concept of staying above 42 degrees all winter is very .. weird. LOL! I couldn't imagine thinking and singing about Christmas when it's warm enough for shorts! Rolling on the floor laughing

Rita - beautiful roses! Love all the colors together Smiling Cramming plants together in a small space is my gardening style too ;-)

Val - Your Fragrant Cloud is very pretty. I have it and I love the fragrance, it's the most fragrant rose in my garden. It's not orange here though .... more like Coral red .... but still very pretty.

I looked for Fragrant Cloud and couldn't find any. The only place was Jackson & Perkins and it said it wouldn't ship to Tennessee...something about it being too cold here. I find that hard to believe!

J&P has turned into a bad joke.

HMF has three pages of sources for Fragrant Cloud:

Clint - you want me to pick you up one at my local nursery? I know they have 'em. They grow 'em out in 3gal pots and they'll be on sale this Friday (Night of Wines and Roses)

http://www.tagawagardens.com/t...

They sell for $39.99 - 20%.. I don't know how much shipping would be, but, as Zuzu can attest, I don't try to overcharge for shipping and make sure the rose looks good! Smiling Or, if you can wait until May, a different nursery (Paulino's Gardens) will start selling their roses and they're a bit cheaper. That's what I'm primarily going to do for some of my local roses. Smiling

Thanks, Toni. I think I'll wait. I'm under so much stress at work. I don't know how much I'll be able to do this year. I hope you all are having a better day than me. Sad

Sue - does NOT surprise me at all! Considering how much they suck. I wonder how Wayside Gardens wasn't included in this? And I thought Michigan Bulb was part of their family, too.

They probably own several Toni but just the parent companies are listed I would imagine. It's up to the consumer to do their research before deciding to risk an order. Love Garden Watchdog for that!

Your pictures are STUNNING Rita! And so healthy, I think I started to feel tears in my eyes when I saw your first picture, thats how stunned I was. If I had to pick just one of your roses it would be 'Perfume Perfection', something about the mauve color really draws me to them.

I do love my roses. I manage to get the plant crazies for different types of plants and then I just keep getting more and more of them. I have the roses crazies, the daylily crazies, lily crazies and lately the iris crazies. I also have lots of butterfly attracting plants plus shrubs and small fruit. Then I am also crazy about annuals.

I really enjoy my garden.

The crazies are a dangerous thing to get when it comes to plants! Hilarious! A few years ago I had the daylily crazies, then the lily crazies then the brugmansia crazies and if I am able to feed it maybe the rose crazies this year!

Just in case you think my garden is just roses, here is a shot taken from the top garden towards my neighbors house. It shows one of my crabapple trees in bloom which is planted in what I call Azealea Hill. In the middle are my winterberry shrubs just leafing out. They are actually planted on the steep unterraced slope going down.

Just in the far left you can see my Lavaglut roses.

Rita, florabundaville is gorgeous. It's inspiring. I'm neither brave enough nor smart enough to jumble colors together, so yellows get beds where they consort with orange and vermilion. Cool pinks find themselves close to purples and crimsons. Whites mix with blues, yellows, and reds. And apricots mix with corals and soft oranges.

I am also glad to hear of people being successful with Fragrant Cloud. Last year mine got eaten whole by the furry nibblers that plague my garden. I planted a bigger grafted one this year, hoping that it will fare better. I'm also glad to be reminded that Oklahoma and Sunsprite are fragrant, they keep falling off the end of my to-buy list.
When you dance with nature, try not to step on her toes.

Oh no, everything here gets mixed together. I don't do color theams. I do a riot of color. That's the way I like it.
