OK it is pouring here in Salem and worse tomorrow so maybe this Mother Nature's way of saying to Lynn and I that maybe this wasn't to be this year. I'm actually HAPPY to have the rain as we're a little dry and I have so many things to transplant.

Am so glad I got you addicted to dwarf irises Lynn. They just scream CUTE to me. I have already made an obscene amount of crosses this year. I hope Dirt and you will find some new favorites among the seedlings. On paper, there should be some great ones.

The seedling semps are growing well in their pots and many have several sets of leaves so they can get rowed out in the next week or so. The surprising thing is the REALLY rapid growth of the seedlings of two 'Bros' X self seedlings. These two seedlings made clumps one year from seed and bloomed. The seedlings are already quite big, with 3 or 4 sets of true leaves and LARGE. Don't ask me WHY!

The best thing for low spirits is PLAYING IN THE DIRT!

Sorry about that Asa, that is how it affected me when I added. Sighing!

Okay, taking Kevin's advice and going out to play in the dirt. Hurray!

Nobody knows nothin' at this point Rolling my eyes. Crazy times.
Probably kinda hard to move when you are theoretically 'safer' where you are, right? You could have two gardens and upsize instead of downsize Hilarious!
Enjoy spring for now--it's the only sensible thing to do Smiling

Just don't like the distance between the two gardens, a little over an hour one way. Sighing!
And trying to think about how to transplant this years seedlings. I need to find some deep trays/flats to transplant into.

Lynn,

I think a plan B would be to keep them in their flats but keep them well watered and fertilized and then row them out in September when the weather cools. I had a few pots that I missed when rowing out last spring and I just rowed them out. Surprisingly they look pretty good although I'm sure they are MUCH happier now that they are out of their pots. The other good thing is that are MUCH easier to transplant as bigger seedlings.

I think transferring to bigger flats and separating them will make them even happier.

Lynn.....The Anderson deep prop flats are awesome . I have grown whole clumps in them for several years. They might be deeper than you need for seedlings. I just use regular 10/20 flats that are solid with some drain holes in the bottom. The East Jordan open flat with holes in the bottom is what I use. They seem fine for starting seedlings. I wish this subject had come up a bit earlier. I just placed an order with this company and I could have ordered a box of these and split it with you. You probably will not need 100. This company is amazing. I ordered on Mon and got it on Wed.
I just pricked out the first 72 plug tray of seedlings from 2019 seed today. They have really good roots.
Let's hear it for the Magic Elixer.
They are from Jenny with 3 other varieties including Gold Nugget. I know that no other semps are involved here as no others were blooming. there are only a few with a pale /maybe golden hew. Most are blue. The ones I trans planted are only about 1/4 " across so it's a bit early to tell much of anything yet.

Sighing!
I enjoy beyond written words the Sunday mornings at Perennial Obsessions with all the semp nerds gathered together, eating Cynda's amazing chocolate chip cookies, laughing, visiting, strolling through the greenhouses. Such a warm and peaceful ending to the Clinic weekend. Lovey dubby

and it is a GORGEOUS DAY here too. I'm just in from weeding, transplanting and crossing. Have some great miniature tall iris seedlings today. They are ~2' and have lots of little flowers, as though you put the dwarf iris flowers on pencil slim stalks. Its a good look.

Well NEXT year it will be EVEN BETTER.

I MISS YOU ALL!

Lynn I don['t know how to do the link thing but use Julia's link for the website. Go to Flats and trays and either scroll down till you come to it or enter "East Jordan open flats with holes" in the search. They are further down than the Anderson Deep flats.
I took a stroll/scroll through Cynda's web site this morning.........not quite the same. Sad

Wow, the shipping on the ones Julia gave me the link for is 1/2 the price of the trays. $75.00 for those nice deep trays and $37.00 for shipping. Now the argument with self begins. Rolling my eyes.
