Julia, I think I have found something that might work. Let me get back to you.

Bev, thanks for making me cry. All those memories made me happy, yet sad. Rolling my eyes.

Oops, big Boo Boo!
I think those PO pics were from 2018 and not 2019.
So that means you all were TWO years younger than now so happy reminiscing your younger days!!
I was wondering why Karen and Kent were missing from there...

I thought some folks deprived of the clinic might be suffering from seedling withdrawals, so here are some yearlings I've been considering:
This is one of my brightest grandiflorum types, I like it a lot and if it increases well I may name it...
Thumb of 2020-05-02/GeologicalForms/4aad27

There are some very pretty things coming from 'Silverine' bee seed...
Thumb of 2020-05-02/GeologicalForms/a930bb

My smallest big producer...
Thumb of 2020-05-02/GeologicalForms/e3a3b3

'Lentezon' x 'Hordubal', this one makes a nice colony to and very fast! If you look closely you can see that even some of the offsets are offsetting and this seedling is only a year old!
Thumb of 2020-05-02/GeologicalForms/38a37f

This one has a certain charm to it that I can't explain...
Thumb of 2020-05-02/GeologicalForms/bd07e6

A nice tricolor...
Thumb of 2020-05-02/GeologicalForms/7c1a7e

This ones from 'Olivette'
Thumb of 2020-05-02/GeologicalForms/a96c11

A small bright green with a neat growth habit from 'Grey Lady' x 'Lilac Time'
Thumb of 2020-05-02/GeologicalForms/7c5d87

You've got to love this pink zebra stripping!
Thumb of 2020-05-02/GeologicalForms/e85d59

Hope you've enjoyed the digital garden tour! I'll be posting on the Sempervivum Forum's "seedling chat" in the next week with my first selections from the 2019 crop as I start to transplant them to the observation bed.
Till next year, cheers!

Great photo tour Sol. Are those all yearlings? The pink zebra stripped one makes me smile.
Love the brightness of the tricolor.
I find the smallest big producer interesting with it's color and fuzzy texture.
Some interesting things going on in the 'Silverine' bee seed mix.
It will be interesting to see what they look like as two year old, and even that third year. Hurray!

Thanks!

Lynn,
Yes they're just beginning their second year.
I'm really interesting in accentuating the horizontal leaf stripes, I have three or four with that sort of marking but this one has the most complimentary coloring. This effect seems to come out of plants with color mottling and on some it's seasonal, I sure hope it sticks around on this one though! It could really be spectacular once the rosette offers a bigger canvas.
The tips on the tricolor were more of a bright orange tone only a month ago, their still orange, but have become more subdued. It is a stand out, and a green with a pink heart and orange tips was one of my first goals in hybridizing so it feels good to cross one off the list!
Too bad the little one isn't sitting on gravel mulch or it's nice coppery brown would stand out much more.

Julia,
The pink and the silver are two of my favorites from that group and happen to be right next to each other, and the silver in the back isn't bad either, so I figured I'd just take a group photo. There are hundreds in that family and the overall quality is very high.

All very nice Sol.
for some reason I find the lime green one very appealing.
I have lots of tricolors too. Just waiting to see where they end up. I have a lot of tricolor seedlings from my first year which means they are 3 now. I guess my question is this. Since I have so many it must be a common ocurance so why are there not more tricolors on the market? Makes me think they are probably not stable but I am going to wait and see.

Sol and JoAnn,

Yes I have some tricolors and others with patterned leaf bases, one even in a V shape pattern. I pull them out when I see them. They tend to lose it at maturity or express it just as a phase.

Liked the fuzzy brown one. Hope that one stays that color.

'Silverine' never made an ugly seedling for me ether, Sol.

Good rain here day. I'm getting ready to row out seedlings as many pots have seedlings with multiple leaves.

Jo Ann,
Yes it does seem odd that there aren't more tricolors around because I've got lots of them to. In my opinion the trick with those is to get three colors that go really well with each other, green, orange, and pink is a favorite combo of mine, used to have a t-shirt custom painted by a local artist in those hues, loved it to death!

Kevin,
Hoping both the seedlings you mentioned have good color retention as well. The little brown one has been that way since late January. For me, it's very crucial that the tiny ones be good producers so they can quickly occupy the same visual space as a larger plant, and this one certainly fits the bill. Now that both of them have got my attention I'll be watching closely.
'Silverine' is a fantastic parent, and this bee seed has given me such a variety of shapes and colors. I can see why you saved so many from that one.
Some of my earlier plantings are ready for row out to. Still building the new bed though, torrential downpour hobbled my efforts today. Maybe tomorrow will be more accommodating.

Thanks Kevin. That explains why there are very few tricolor with patterns on the market.

So I just finished adding the soil to my observation bed yesterday and I'm just about ready to start moving seedlings around. I was thinking I'd row out the earliest planted ones from 2020 to, but while I was looking them over I noticed a pair of brand new cotyledons in a pot withmost of the plants sporting 3 or 4 sets of true leaves. Kevin, do you come across this much? where a few seeds have just germinated so much later than the rest that it might be dangerous to try and plant them?
In pots where every square millimeter is occupied by sizeable seedlings it doesn't worry me as much because I figure if any seeds are germinating underneath all that they're doomed anyway. In the pots where I'm seeing these late bloomers I think I'll wait to row them out though, regardless of the size of the bigger seedlings.
