Excuse me for a moment if I gush over an older film. Black Magic, 1948, IMDB 6.4. Alexander Dumas. The photography alone makes it worth seeing, IMO. Orson Wells as a gypsy hypnotist. I now will forever think of gypsies when I see Orson Wells again. I could not even begin to list the number of great movies he was part of.

As a photographer and a student working on his masters degree ( in statistics,) I wanted to expand my horizons. I took 4 university classes on film and the art of cinema. Citizen Kane, The Third Man were required viewing. As well as Federico Fellini. I anyone asks me what my favorite movie of all time is: La Strada. Though I seldom watch it as it makes me sob for hours.

Watched Netflix movie, Saving Zoë
It is in the Teen Drama category but also a drama whodunit. It was entertaining.

Also finished Season 2 of You. Very good! Anxious to see Seaon 3...Next year! UGH!

La Strada is a great film. Citizen Kane though will always be my fave. I'm a Buster Keaton fan as well and getting my son into him. And if you haven't seen The Seventh Seal, that's a classic.

Hmmm... was that Buster Keaton too? I think that was the FIRST episode of The Twilight Zone. Now you're gonna make me go look it up. Smiling

I think you might be thinking about Ed Wynn in One For the Angels, s1 e2. I'm talking about the episode where Buster Keaton accidentally goes into the future, where there's talkies. It starts out in the 1800s with the episode being cast as a silent film and when Buster gets to the future, the episode becomes a talky. I thought they also did color but was wrong.

You are correct I was thinking Ed Wynn. Older, perhaps similar comedian.

Just watched a movie starring a strange looking guy. Weird smile. Laughs when he shouldn't. You do wonder what all he is thinking. Doesn't like people. Has a "different" view of life in general. Involved in crazy behavior, violence and murder. I would have bet it was Joaquin. Nightcrawlers, 2014, IMDB 7.9.

Long, sometimes complicated but very entertaining. The Thieves, 2012, IMDB 6.8.

Watched Light of my life on Prime? Netflix? I can't remember which?? Interesting Casey Affleck film in an apocalyptic world without women. Affleck mumbles a lot so I missed a bunch of dialogue. Then watched Once Upon a Time in Venice Beach, Bruce Willis, John Goodman, Jason Mamoa. Stupid movie, just this side of slapstick but not funny slapstick.

Started binge watching the Gossip Girl series in bed at night. 6 seasons. It is a teen type series but what it really deals with is about the Have's and Have Nots (in NYC) and when their lives come together. I find it well done. But I am also a Penn Badgely fan.

Watched Jumanji Welcome to the Jungle last night. While not as good as the original it was still an entertaining movie. They made enough changes to modernize it and a good cast.

A good movie worth watching. OK, maybe not the best movie ever but it woke me up to some other things. Kovak Box, 2006. IMDB 5.8. The Hungarian song written in 1933: Gloomy Monday. Banned by BBC for over 20 years. Said to have caused more suicides than any other song in history. However, many say it is a beautiful song. Recorded by Billie Holliday in 1941. Look for the perhaps better version by Sinead O'Connor.

So far The new Star Wars movie, awesome, but then I'm a huge fan, John Wick Parabellum, will be watching Joker tonight, plant to watch 1917, Parasite, Little women, and Marriage Story. A big fan of Adam Driver, I think his talent was wasted in the Star War movies, and also a big fan of Scarlett Johanssen, ever since I saw her in the Horse Whisperer. Also wasted in the Avenger movies. For series: Vikings, My feet are killing me, the Pimple Popper Guardians of the glades, Coyote Peterson in February, and I just finished a series called Kings of Pain, where two guys go out in the wild and get deliberately bitten by all kinds of creatures so they can rate the pain on a pain scale, really weird. Paranormal caught on camera. My favorite directors are Guillermo del Toro and Jeff Nichols; I have seen every movie they have directed and I will see any movie they will direct in the future. Won't watch the Irishman, tired of seeing gangster movies, and Robert De Niro is not one of my favorite actors. My son watches the Magicians, but I gave up on that two seasons ago when it got too weird for me.
