I have always liked that semp. I think it was one of the first semps I looked into when I first got into sempervivums.

When you are around both you will begin to see the differences Alex. And the blooms are very different.

I might have to look at several of the Rosularia next year too.
Some that really look interesting include the Rosularia platyphylla and the Rosularia chrysantha
Of course, finding a Rosularia chrysantha will probably be the difficult part. It appears it is the
Turkish Hen and Chick, and Prometheum chrysanthum ssp. chrysanthum. Both of these plants
are on my wish list

Since sempervivum are monocarpic, and give out pups when they are gonna die, what is the highest amount of pups you have ever recieved from a sempervivum? Mine is 42

*Usual pupping does count

Hi Alex. The most I've ever gotten off of one rosette in a growing season is 120 offsets. That was from Picasso. I removed the earlier offset as soon as they had enough size to them. The Roset then proceeded to produce another massive litter of offsets.

Wow! 120 offsets. What a huge colony that's gonna be. I remember hearing someone talk about 525 offsets, and I told 'em that I smelled cap, and that they needed to re-count their offsets...

I do not know if I would want 120 clones of Picasso, I would rather have it still growing massive as it should rather than minute Picasso clones cramped all over Smiling
Maybe a minute arachnoideum with tons of clones I would highly appreciate.

The nurseries love the semps that are heavy producers. I don't think Picasso would have produced the second batch if hadn't removed the first set. This year I will allow it to form a colony.

Oh, and bad news: it snowed last night but none of us were expecting it...SO THAT MEANS that my semps weren't in the proper place to get snow. We're getting snow again today though so I'm MAKING sure to put them in a place where they'll get snow.
