Better late than never and back by popular demand... Sempervivum Santa rides again.

Thumb of 2020-12-24/tcstoehr/dc502e

He could use some new reindeer and a new paint job, maybe next year. I placed him near my favorite roller which I got from Lynn some time ago. His very first ride was in 1965 atop my birthday cake on my 7th birthday. He's aged better than I have since then.

@springcolor very nice pictures. We got some snow today which my husky has spent all day in?

@valleyLynn, are you going to have a white Christmas in VA?

Merry Xmas from a dry and cold Oregon! Although the cold is not what I wanted but DRY is definitely what I wanted. The pond geberated from rain coming down my hillside has a bit of ice on it even.

LOVE your "Santa in the Semps" Tim.

Am surprised you got snow in WA Julia. We've been way too warm when the precipitation came. The mountains though are glorious. Mt. Jefferson is one big snow mound.

Does anyone have any good tips for plant tags? Our basset hound has decided they are his favorite things to play with. He loves to pull them out which means I have gained some noids over the last few months because I don't remember exactly which one was which.

A very Merry Christmas to you all!

BTW, I HATE my luck. We got no snow AT ALL.

Merry Christmas from cool and dry North Texas. Semps are still in the house.

so I just got on here to read, and if I understand correctly:

Semps bloom when they are about to die.
Semps produce pups when they are about to die.

They never produce pups to hang out with them and make a colony?

Beautiful winter scenes Julia. Was that up towards Snoqualmie Pass? Do you have snow at home?

Nathaniel, it has snowed here in Virginia all morning, but is not cold enough for it to stick. Sure is pretty watching it though.
Vinyl blinds can be cut into tags of any size. I use pencil to write names and you can bury them at the top side of each colony. That way the dog won't know they are there. Place each tag the same, top/right side/left side, what ever makes sense to you. Just be sure to do them all the same.

Kevin, I am so glad to hear that it is no longer raining. Maybe I will still have plants to come home to. Smiling

Alice, a rosette will usually live 4 years or more. During that time they form lovely colonies. Hurray!

Lynn,

As soon as I wrote that IT STARTED TO RAIN AGAIN.

Nathaniel, I like the PawPaw Everlast labels. Lynn and I use different styles and they're both good. If you want a bit lighter ones the ones Chris sells have really good clarity.

Smiling @Lynn snowed where I am too. just some flurries which my dog went crazy for (he thinks snow is just fluffy tissue paper, not water)

Didn't snow enough for any bit to stay Sad We did get a big snow earlier this month though. It didn't last long, because it snowed literally seconds after the snow accumulated to a playable thickness Rolling on the floor laughing
