I was thinking they might be young because they look kind of lanky and reminded me of our young chickens, or at least the cockerels.

No, seriously...
Either we have scrawny turkeys or a heck of a lot of young turkeys here in FL but Lin's pictures look like all the turkeys I've seen here. Maybe I've seen some a bit fatter but it probably depends on time of year.

Thanks for the pics of the tropical screech owl Cecelia. I envy your brother having a full time resident right there. One thing is for sure with a screech owl living under the eves like that --- there sure won't be any rodent problems!

Among the limited number of "the usual suspects" in the Lehigh Parkway, the Great Blue Herons are generally the most fun to photograph. Mergansers and Red-tailed hawks, are encountered less frequently, but are tied for second.

Here's an image of "Greybeard" (my nickname for this bird) doing one of his disco moves (John Travolta, eat your heart out!)

I am amazed Christine! I would have bet cash money that you had wild turkeys roaming around your area from time to time.

This common parrot or Catita came flying and stopped on a tree outside my home.
They live in South America. Its place of origin is in Argentina but it also lives in Uruguay, Paraguay, Bolivia and southern Brazil.
There are many of them nesting on some eukalyptus near my house.

Cecilia, what a beautiful Parrot! It resembles the Monk Parrots that are found living in parts of Florida, escaped pets that are now abundant in a few cities here in the U.S.

I was in the kitchen earlier today and looked out the window to see 8 to 10 Turkeys in the yard. It was raining but I went out and tried to get photos through the foliage. Turkeys apparently have really good hearing because they alerted to me rather quickly and took off.


I also got a couple of photos of a male Northern Cardinal visiting a feeder in the rain.

I LOVE the northern cardinals !!!

15 September I was on one of my walks/patrols in the Lehigh Parkway and encountered a bird which was not one of the usual suspects. It was up in a tree, shaded and backlit. I used some photo processing software to convert the images from silhouettes to at least so-so mugshots:


After prowling around the internet, I think (and I do that sometimes) that it might be a Cedar Waxwing. However, before I send out my 15 September Parkway Patrol Report, I would appreciate either a confirmation or correction as to the bird's ID.
Or, in other words, HELP!
