No juncos, no white crowned or white throated sparrows, no chipping sparrows, no goldfinches, no cedar waxwings, ono pine Siskin, no big flocks of grackles and cow birds( glad about this). What's going on? Usually have these birds in abundance by now. Is it the weather? I'm doing the same feeding routine, mixed seed, niger seed, suet cakes, cracked corn for the ground feeders. No excess of feral cats. I'm stumped. Any ideas? Anyway LOVE ALL the pics! Wish I had some to post. Still trying to take bird pics successfully. I might go to the lake and try to get some waterbird shots. Plenty of birds out there! Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing

Maybe the weather. Shrug!

The Brown Pelican is a year-round resident here in Florida. I love watching them, whether perched on pilings in the waterway, standing on a ramp, floating in the water, or soaring overhead ... they are cool birds!

I am having the same problem. We have fed the birds for years. Three years running no birds at the feeder in the winter. We do have birds in spring summer and fall. Very perplexing. Very disappointing ☹️

I don't know why they're not at your place, taterpye. but they went somewhere! Maybe it was that unusually early cold that knocked them off course. Confused

If it helps to know, we have plenty of birds here. I think a group of bluebirds showed up this morning. I could see and hear them in the trees. They kept flying out of camera shot! Hilarious! Finally got a long distance shot of one. I think it's a female bluebird. Smiling

After a snow storm last March I kept hearing a cardinal outside my bedroom windows and had to go look for it. Finally found it high up in the magnolia tree. It was still very windy out and blowing the snow around, so he'd hunker down when the gusts of wind came, and start singing his heart out again when the winds died down.

Christine, great shots of all those lovely birds! I love the Eastern Bluebird, don't see them very often here at all and I haven't seen Chipping Sparrows in a long time either. I'd occasionally see Bluebirds when we lived in Daytona Beach and we'd get lots of Chippers during the winter months there .. maybe they don't come this far south. Sad

Murky, what beautiful shots of that Northern Cardinal, they seem even more vivid in color in winter.

The last little bird is very cute, Lynn. Could it be a little gnat-catcher?

Christine, my first thought was a Blue-Gray Gnatcatcher which I do see here on occasion but the bill on the bird today looks stouter and a little hooked at the tip ... though it could just be my eyes and the angle of the picture. I'm having vision issues again lately. Sighing!

These are pic's I took a couple of years ago of what I thought was the Blue-Gray Gnatcatcher but these could very well be something else. Green Grin!

I observed two Carolina wrens at the suet feeder yesterday. I heard them before I went to the window and I recognized their fussing; boy, are they loud for such little birds! I had a nesting pair somewhere in the back yard last year; I never found the nest. I am hoping to have another pair nesting this spring.
Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has not yet come. We have only today. Let us begin.
