I agree 19T-18b definitely looks like a pretty pink iris.I am sure it is even prettier in person.

KentPfeiffer said: Weirdly enough, 16T-24a has also produced a blue seedling

19T-07c is as close to a turquoise iris as I've seen. It's a bit of an illusion, the petals are really just light blue, but the back sides are greenish grey and it alters the apparent color.

The beard on this one is approaching red--at least on my screen. Are there any bearded iris with true rich-red beards? One of my pet peeves is descriptions that say "red beard" when they are really just orange.

I recall an image posted on this forum perhaps 2 or 3 years ago of an iris with a beard that was the closest to red that I've ever seen. I'm pretty sure it was a seedling. I haven't been able to find that posting again. Kent, was it one of yours?

Laurie, I think that Pacific Fire really does have a red beard. Here is a picture of it from my garden.

Follow the link to the database page to click on this photo there to open it fully. And there you can also see other photos of this cultivar. I love it. And if you look carefully, the shoulders of the falls have a trace of pink. I think this is a very under-rated iris.

Not sure. Could have been 17T-27c. I sort of remember discussing how certain parts of its flowers are close to red, specifically the beards and fall veins?

The beards are certainly are certainly closer to red than to orange, but they aren't fire engine red either. Tomato red? Something like that. I'd say the same for 16T-24a, not red but closer to red than orange.

I have quite a few red bearded seedlings from the 2019 group. Mostly thanks to Paul Black's 'Daffy Duck' which also has beards that are close to red but not quite all the way there.

Kent, yes I think that is the picture. Tomato-red, depending on the cultivar of tomato! Hilarious!

Daisy, your picture is pretty close to red, too. Looking at the database for Pacific Fire shows some images that lean toward red and others more orange.

For example, I crossed 15T-24c to Smoking Aces (another Blyth iris I really like that doesn't perform well here), hoping to get something similar to Smoking Aces that grows well. Got that, plus a couple of nice surprises.

19T-18b, just about the prettiest iris I've ever seen in person

It's going to have to improve its plant qualities or it's not going anywhere, unfortunately. It could, it was in a bad spot, but I moved it and gave it more space last fall. Sometimes that's all it takes for them to straighten up. Sometimes not. We'll see. Shrug!

[quote="KentPfeiffer"] Some TBs I've sent to Phil that may get introduced in the future.

13T-18c. 'Chocolates and Silk' is the pollen parent. I've done a number of crosses with 'Chocolates and Silk' over the years, on the rare occasions when it blooms, even though it has some issues as a parent. It's a pretty iris with interesting beards that produces beautiful seedlings. Unfortunately, most of them end up being culled because they have bad branching and/or grow or bloom poorly. This was one of the exceptions.

I suspect it has still been too cold to go out and count fans. As soon as they can, they will undoubtedly revise the site to show which ones will be available for 2022.

I know it has still been too cold here for me to get out and finish pulling last year's dead leaves, and fertilizing, much less counting the new fans. I can hardly wait for some warmer days.
