Kent those are really nice pics I especially like Noble Gesture I tried all bloom season to get the color to come out on it and mine were never perfect but yours I think is right on with what it has. I have been wanting to see some of the smaller ones that he has I missed them all in Oregon that Limonada is good one.

Some great pictures Kent, Noble gesture sure gets on my list for next year, and Brad, Foolish Dreamer sure has some interesting color. There's never an end to the variety and beauty.

Would someone please start a thread on Blyth irises with pictures? I have a Keppel catalogue and just can't find a lot of them. I know the Tempo Two website, but apparently it doesn't have all intros? Unless I'm looking at the wrong site.

Noble Gesture is certainly a difficult flower to capture in a picture for some reason. I took many pictures of it in my garden this spring, but deleted most of them because they just weren't any good. This picture, taken at Keppel's last spring, is probably the closest I've come to showing what it looks like in person:

Because the bloom season in Oregon was so late last year, we saw quite a few of Keith's medians, Brad. Here are a few:

Devil's Night - SDB - won the Award of Merit this year, although I like Dark Matter a lot more
Thumb of 2012-08-28/KentPfeiffer/a98a24

Eye To Eye - a smallish arilbred

Garnet Slippers - IB - won the Sass Medal last year

Ruby Slippers - IB - won the Sass Medal the year before last
Thumb of 2012-08-28/KentPfeiffer/c3794e

Jargon - SDB - a dwarf luminata
Thumb of 2012-08-28/KentPfeiffer/7c829a

Lemon Freeze - SDB - pretty little glaciata but I actually liked Tom Johnson's Twitter a bit better

Kent great pictures I especially like Garnet and Ruby Slippers the beards make them glow, and Safari Sunrise I did buy this year I think it will be a favorite the color reminds me of Drinks At Sunset just a smaller version of it Thanks for posting them. That pictue of Nobel Gesture at Kieths is the best one I have seen of it really is the best dark one out there and the plant itself is really nice one of the best increasers I have.

Per Polly's request, I just bumped up our last thread on Blyth irises -- and I added pictures of my ENCHANTER when it finally bloomed for me after all these years. WOW! And I'll check to see if I have any new Blyth iris pictures to add.

Doesn't really matter one way or the other to me, although I only posted pictures of the Blyth iris that are currently listed in Keith Keppel's catalog. Weren't you specifically looking for pictures of Blyth iris from Keith's catalog, Polly?

Yes, thanks Kent. I did move it over to the other thread and deleted it from here. It does mention it's from the Keppel catalogue. Hope that's OK.

This forum made me count all the Keppel irises that I have. I never thought about it but I actually have 9 of his cultivars.

Welcome Blomma! I haven't seen you on here before, Yes Drama Queen is sure a nice one. I haven't seen Brat before, and didn't find it in our data base. Do you have a picture of that one? It seems like if you collect any iris one will for sure have some of Keppels. He has so many nice ones.

Paul, sorry if this is a repeat question, but what is the lovely iris on your avatar now?

I discovered Keith Keppel's iris last year, and have a few, of which everyone has already posted photos of. Tuscan Summer was absolutely stunning this spring as was High Octane.

One I haven't seen posted is Icon, a mini I purchased from Keith Keppel last year. This is truly the first mini I have ever purchased, and I just fell in love with it.

Thumb of 2012-09-15/philljm/033973 Thumb of 2012-09-15/philljm/f16372

I had an order all ready to send in this year, but when summer got so nasty hot and dry, I decided to hold off until next year. And all these beautiful photos aren't helping me, my order for next year, just tripled on my wish list. I KNEW I shouldn't look at this thread! ~Jan

Beautiful SDB (Standard Dwarf Bearded) mini, Jan. So bright and perky! They won't bloom for me anymore, unfortunately -- my winters don't get cold enough now. But I love them all, and Keith has some great ones. And have you ever looked at Paul Black's SDB's? I especially love his with all the different colored beards! (He's retired now, but his SDB's are at Mid-America Garden.)

Oops -- I just checked the AIS Iris Encyclopedia and discovered that ICON is an MDB (Miniature Dwarf Bearded) rather than an SDB. Sorry!
Betty

All I know it as is a mini. But it caught my eye in his catalog, so surprising myself, I bought it, and just love it. I normally like HUGE flowers and plants. And then there is this one..... Big Grin

Yup, it's the miniest one. I just got one as a bonus. Glad to see a pic, Jan, lovely!

Since you've done so well with that one, maybe try some of the SDBs like Betty mentioned. Most websites will tell you which ones they are.
