Paul most of these were taken in his Garden or at Schreiners it seemed to me that they were growing all of his plants so hopefully that continues as he starts to slow down that they carry them all in the future. I was really surprised at how big his gardens were for a one man operation it looked to be a lot of work to take care of, I certaintly don't blame him for wanting to slow down a little I think he still enjoys it quite a bit after all the years but Wow just the digging and dividing every year would be a tremendous amount of work for anyone. I hope he keeps cataloging some of his seedlings he really had some beauties.

Polly I do have some more clump shots I hope I can be a Enabler for you Smiling

Brad, please do, I'm starting on next years list. :)

I figure Mr. Keppel has another 20 good hybridizing years on him. He looks in good health. Currier McEwen was hybridizing until amost 100. But yes, we need some new people.

70 is the new 40 you know.

Both Keith Keppel and Joe Ghio are in their 70's now, and I totally understand why they might want/need to cut back. I think both of them are still interested in the hybridizing, and maybe they can each find someone to take care of the business/digging end of things as time goes by.

Brad....your pictures are all wonderful but the one of Adriatic Waves with Allium is one of the very best I've seen here on ATP or any where else for that matter. Those ruffles look like they are in 3-D. It ought to grace the cover of the Iris Journal. So beautiful. Give yourself a pat on the back.

Ditto to what Paul said! and I do have to get Nobel Gesture, I just wasn't that excited over the picture in the catalog, but man it's a Grab you flower. My Legerdmain didn't get those little speckles on it, wonder if that will come later, I like those. My Jazz Era didn't bloom this year, but should next year. I like that one a lot too. I hope these guys have mentored an upstart who can carry on their work. Paul Black has helped Tom Johnson get a good start. It would be great to have their work carried on by someone after they are too old to do the work. I'm sure though, that others will be using their flowers in their crosses for a long time to come.

OMG Brad!!! Are these shots in your garden? They are absolutely mouth-watering. I just doubled my wishlist! Lovey dubby Have you considered adding these to the database here on ATP?

And after re-reading Tom's list, I realize that I have several more Keppel's.

Foreign Legion:

I also have *Drama Queen* and *Moonlit Water*. DQ was added last year, but didn't bloom this year. MW was acquired this year.

This is really fun. It made me realize that, except for Ghio Irises, I don't pay much attention to who the hybridizers are. I'm going to go through my entire Iris collection and find out who developed each one. I may have some older varieties from some of these hybridizers -- and don't realize it!

Haven't gone through all of my Irises yet, but went through the ones that I added last year and this year -- and have three more Keppels: *Alpenview*, *Fancy Woman* and *Sea Power*. My order from Dee hasn't arrived yet, and I don't remember what I ordered from her -- there could be Keppels in there.

I couldn't find any data on an Iris named *Southern Morning*, which I ordered from Beaumont Ridge this year. His *S* page is down for some reason, so can't get information there. So that's an unknown.

It's interesting -- of the 35 Irises that I bought in the past two seasons, 21 of them are either Ghio or Keppel. I knew about the Ghio's -- didn't realize it about the Keppel's.

Apparently, I have two favorite hybridizers!! Green Grin!

OK -- no wonder I couldn't find it -- it's an brand-new introduction by Timothy Metler, who owns Beaumont Ridge Iris Gardens. Mystery solved. Glad that I got it -- it's a beauty!!

Thanks Paul.
