I received three orders yesterday, but I planted before taking pics. I received Mexican Elvis and Patriot's Day(extra fans) from Favorite Things Daylilies, Sister Donna Marie (10 fans) from Windy Hill Daylilies, with a bonus of Special Candy(6 fans). I also received 3 fans of Tall Blond from our own Twixanddud aka Laura.

Yesterday was a good day!

I received my order from Melanie Mason from North Country Daylilies yesterday. They are all soaking right now but I had to hunt for enough containers to hold them all!

I bought Bella Nova, Benjamin, Bourbon and Branch, Carmel Dip, Drums Along the Mohawk, James the Dragon Slayer, Joyous Wonder, Love in the Library, Put-In Bay, Red Rock Sunrise, Root Beer Float, Stardust Lady, Summer Re-Run, Sun's Shadow, Take Me Along and Waggle Dance. The number of fans ranged from 3-13 with most being 5-6 fans. Hurray!

Since this is her last year selling I just might place another order. I love her dayliles and they do really well for me. Oh, and everything is 50% off too!

I received my order from Celeste (@celestialrose) today. The plants all look great...amazing root systems! I'm so thankful for all of them, and I got BIG clumps of more than one.

My order: Bahama Butterscotch, Bird Talk, Blessed Art Thou, Carol's Gentle Presence, Desert Icicle, Irving Shulman, Janice Brown, Lime Frost, Marque Moon, Open Hearth, Pumpkin Time, Ruffled Apricot, Sir Modred, Spacecoast Dream Catcher, Troubled Sleep, and Tutankhamun.

I even received Catherine Woodbery as a bonus. I'm very pleased and excited to see these!

Edit: I forgot to include the pics!

Hardy hibiscus are a hobby, but daylilies are an obsession.

I suppose I should post in a "Plants not arrived (yet)" thread as I have been tracking my package of daylilies from Davi. The package tracked quickly from NC to Maryland and then took a detour. So instead of eagerly getting my box today, my package has to make its way from Iowa (where it ended up last night!) hopefully back to Maryland today. Sighing!

Yesterday I got my second order from Melanie Mason. When I wrote to tell her I had received the first box I decided to just go ahead and order more. She sent these out before she even got my check!

I got Ellies Late Show (13 fans), Pinhill June Sunrise (6 fans), Seneca Safari (7 fans), Spacecoast Tiny Perfection (5 fans) and Stella's Ruffled Fingers (4 fans). These look even better than the first set!

You won't be disappointed if you place an order! You can look her up under either North Country Daylilies or Longlesson Farm.

Something is going on with the USPS. I expected plants on Tuesday, but they aren't here. As a matter of fact I haven't received any mail in two days...no magazines, junk mail, or coupons...nadda nothing. Glare Tom Bell sent my second order via UPS, plants arrived the next day fresh as a daisy. Thumbs up Thumbs up

Hopefully your plants will be okay after taking the circuitous route.

I agree, mail is doing strange things. I bought/traded last week. The plants I got from my trade was supposed to take 2 days, they spent an extra day in local post office according to tracking, so took 3. Not bad, but I thought since it took 3 days anyway, I would send out on Friday and she would get hers on Monday. Nope, they took an extra little side trip and did not arrive til Tuesday. I learned not to try to outfox them Hilarious!

It's such an exciting time of the year! Boxes are starting to come in for me. So far the best plants I received were from Wynn's Daylily Garden and Melanie Mason from Longlesson Farm. Melanie did not send fans, she sent clumps of fans! Her plants are wonderful! Daylily plants from Wynn's Garden are humongous! I have never seen fans as huge as those they sent me. I wish I took a pic of my Green Volcano. They were as big as my arm. I wonder what they use to feed their daylilies! I still have have 9 more orders which will come in May.

This year is my first time ordering DL by mail. Looking at everyone's pictures, should I soak them before planting? If so, how long should they soak?
Thanks!

Tabitha, when I get daylilies in the mail, I soak the roots overnight in a little washtub and then plant them the next day. Works great for me...

@Madrid2000
I soak my plants for a couple of hours and then plant, I have soaked over night as well, and that worked out fine too. I'm so bored now that I can hardly wait for them to soak before planting.

@kousa
I'm right there with you Karen, I have more orders coming from Blue Ridge, Northern Lights, Park Lane, Oak HIll, Patrick Guidry, Wynn's, and Floyd Cove. All of which sends wonderful plants. My second orders from Wynn's and Floyd Cove this season. I'm not sure what Floyd Cove and Wynn's use as fertilizer, but the plants are the largest I've seen. I have blooms and scapes on both of their plants received two weeks ago. Some of those Florida growers have a secret sauce!

As I send out daylily orders I am finding that about half will get there on time, the others will go take a side trip to parts unknown before going to their homes. Sometimes it doesn't make sense if you follow the tracking. I shipped a bunch out the same day (on a Monday) and half got them as their 2-day Priority Mail promised. The others are still waiting. Location or nearness to me doesn't seem to be a factor. Some go into outer space for awhile then tracking shows them far away from their intended destination. I wonder if it has to do with the crisis and the postal service being short-staffed or overwhelmed with all the people buying online now. As someone who prides herself on sending them fresh and green it's annoying. And being on the receiving end too, is frustrating. Plants arriving yellow and dried up will almost always rejuvenate with a good soak but sometimes I hold my breath waiting. My plants are like my 'children' and I want the best for them. Sighing!

Thanks for posting the pics of the daylilies, Ken. As I see photos of monster fans grown in the south I need to caution those in the North like me. While impressive, those huge fans often shrink down over time here (zone 4) so size of fans isn't important to me. It's all in the roots, baby. Smiling

This was copied from Floyd Cove's 2019 catalog in regards to what he uses on his potted plants.
