Well, when I was picking and choosing roses for my garden, several years ago, it was invaluable for helping in that matter. So I still feel like I owe them something. You know what I mean? Smiling What's the saying...pass it forward.

I don't know whether you care about this sort of thing, but there's also this about the membership fee. When you pay it, all of your photos in HMF will be marked with a red star:

http://www.helpmefind.com/gard...

That way, everyone can see that you care enough to sponsor the site.

I'm afraid I just haven't quite gotten around to contributing to HMF. I love their breadth. I love the photos and the "where to find" roses, but I miss hearing an actual voice behind descriptions of roses.

Bug Fixed... Yay!

Steve, that's why I like using my two big books, The American Rose Society's Encyclopedia of Roses and Botanica's Roses although I often check the images for comments as well as the Member Comments of course.
I do hope you will find the time to contribute to our Cubit rose database. Big Grin It's coming along slowly but Zuzu has put a big dent into the images as well as details on the entries.

I'm dreaming of the day I'll be able to yell "Bingo!" If I could just have one page with a thumbnail for every entry....

She is positively giddy about the prospect! You wouldn't want to disappoint her full page goal now would you?!

It is a great goal and a noble cause. I can think of nobody better suited for the task. Interestingly, I share the same dream of one page per entry. And I keep meaning to complete my work on a presentation tool that works exactly that way.

I am very fond of Botanica's Roses. I have the big book and the "pocket" book which is portable in about the same way that the very first model of the Compaq computer was. Although it is my favorite rose book, sometimes the voice I hear is of someone faced with the interminable task of writing about 4000 roses, I wish that more sources would write as well as and with the same enthusiasm as GS Thomas. Or as incisively as Stirling Macoboy who proclaimed of Whiskey Mac "A triumph of good looks over practicality," which seems to me like the right comment for the right rose.
