That's why I pre-sprouted in soil blocks and got caught with you know what! So wet and rainy I haven't been able to plant and the vines are already a foot tall! Good thing it was just a few of them.

I might pre spout them. I have never done that before but have read where the prespouting gives very good results on the early spring peas.

I've never done it before but have had trouble in the past with germination because the soil is so cold. Just hard to judge, you have to get them in early, but what's too early? the fun of gardening!

I will do some more for a second planting too. And then direct sow and see what works better.

I have extra seed on hand this year, so I'll probably just keep trying until something works. Smiling

I know peas can take cold weather no problem and just keep on growing. But soil too cold and they will not sprout. Oh yes, the joys of gardening and trying to get it right! Shrug!

We had about 6 inches, maybe slightly more, of snow overnight. Shoveled the snow. I hope this is the last of the snow until next winter. I am so ready for spring and my spring bulbs to bloom.

The one good sign is the ground is soft underfoot.Places where the sun lasts longest are beginning to thaw.

Snow on the ground here melting today because it is fairly warm. Supposed to hit 50. We got about 6 inches of snow overnight Thursday night into Friday morning. Last night on the local Long Island Weathernews I heard that southern Long Island only got about 2 inches while mid suffolk county and out east got about 5 onches. Further into the city not much, maybe the 2 inches. But northern Nassau County, which is where I am they reported 8 inches of snow. At least it is sunny and it should melt quickly.

a foot of snow here. It is melting on our gravel driveway & dripping off the roof. Birds are satisfied as at least one is singing its heart out.

I went out to get the mail and while I was at it I walked down to the street and the sidewalk in front of the house. There are tulips up on my front yard. Some out by the steet and some further in. I have tulips planted all over the place but didn't look in the back yard or sideyard because there is still snow.

I knew there where daffodils up but didn't realise until now there where some tulips up also. As soon as the snow clears in the next few days, I will have to look for more. And I want to see if any crocus are up as I planted lots of new crocus also.

Don't forget to turn the clocks forward for one hour before you go to bed as daylight savings time starts overnight tonight. Tomorrow we will have much more daylight at the end of our day.
