I ordered more sugar snap peas. I got Super Sugar Snap and I already have Cascadia and something else left over from last fall. Plan to plant peas early this spring. I have seeds for cucumbers so thinking I don't need those but do need to get my yard long beans for this year. No real big hurry on them, can't plant till it warms up. Peas have to be planted early though, they are a cool season crop.

And so begins the veggie crazies for another year. Rolling on the floor laughing

We haven't had much snow yet, and it's just now beginning to stick. It's going to have to snow an awful lot overnight to amount to much.

The plant cover that I found yesterday is here http://garden.org/blogs/entry/... . Since it's open mesh it isn't quite a wintersowing type of cover, so it didn't seem like it should go in that thread.

We woke to about 6" of snow on the ground today...not bad. At least it's not blowing and drifting, so we should be able to get out if we need to by afternoon.
I'm looking at it as a nice deep drink for the early spring show that's soon to come! Hurray!

We got about 8"-10" between Sunday and Monday. It was hard to tell for sure because there was a lot of wind with it. I needed to get some pots from our barn which is down the hill from our house and even though it was ploughed out a couple of weeks ago the path was pretty deep with snow. It was so bright white it was hard to see where the path was. When I got to the barn and looked back it looked like I must have had one to many the way my path zigzagged. Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Really, I did'nt. Rolling on the floor laughing Really. Rolling on the floor laughing

It is very windy out and supposed to get more windy. A big storm is coming our way and last night I heard at least 9 inches expected before it is done by Friday afternoon.

It should be a sloppy mess by this weekend. The lake is full again, so much of the wet will pool in the yard for a while...as usual. I'm really glad that I have more than one pair of *waterproof* (not! Hilarious! ) boots. Whistling

The walkabout the garden today showed more daff blooms trying to open. Today is the day to take a look as we are going to get a winter storm starting this evening until Friday afternoon. Expecting at least 9 inches of snow. But the poor daffs are not doing that great, they are laying on the ground and not quite open all the way. Kind of stuck at that stage. We need this winter weather to end and spring to come so that more blooms can arrive.

These with blooms are the very early type daffs I have. And they are in the sun in the front yard. Other daffs of all types have broken ground and are up all over the garden. Some even have bloom buds. But unless we get nicer weather nothing is going to happen very soon around here. And you all know I can't wait for spring and my flower bulbs to bloom.

Chelle, my yard should look like yours by tomorrow wuth the snow comming. I am not looking forward to that happening!

Chelle - We have Mediterranean weather - dry summers, wet winters so most of the rains are in Oct to April. We had a wet Nov/Dec, but extremely dry Jan/Feb.

This part sounds about the same as what we have here, moisture-wise, although our wet lasts a bit longer. You have plants actively growing and blooming in Jan/Feb though, don't you? Big difference there.

Is your camera still AWOL?

Rita, can you plant your pea seeds right after the late snow melts? Our soil here seems to warm too slowly for this, so I usually don't manage to get an early crop before the heat hits.

I have to see what the weather (temps) will be. Too cold and the seeds will not sprout.
