Yeah, Lucy, it just seems to go on, and on, doesn't it?

Blue poppies. Nope, I'm no help. I still have last year's container, and I guess a miracle could still happen there, but I rather doubt it will. I think someone mentioned that those just about need to be sown right off the mother plant, so perhaps freshness is the key.

I was thinking about using Bacopa as a background plant this year, but it looks like I might go with lots of Lantana instead. I do, however, like some Bacopa in containers. It did really well here last year... in all our drought-y heat.

I haven't sowed any seeds for a while now, but I'm planning on doing some more today.

I saw the first announcement of impending spring today, and this time it was a brown-headed cowbird. The first migratory arrivals at my feeders are usually the red-winged blackbirds.
At less than 20 degrees right now, I'm not quite ready to do the happy-dance just yet, but soon. Big Grin

Houseplants are going crazy right now. I've one in particular that seems to be reaching out to grab me each time I walk past it. Hilarious! I guess it's responding well to the lengthening days and the fish tank water, eh?

I honestly have no idea what that bird was thinking...it's going to have another miserable night tonight. The wind-chill this morning was awful.

Nine more jugs wintersown today. Several types of rudbeckia and assorted others, mostly perennials. I'm really looking forward to seeing if the Agastache 'Sunset Yellow' is as pretty as the few pictures I've seen show it.

Decided to do a general walkabout the garden today as tomorrow it is supposed to pour all day so I will not be walking around the garden. Nothing much going on. This February cold snap we had seems to really pushed back spring from coming to the garden. Still patches of snow on the ground from that big storm afew weeks back. But the rain should wash them away. Hopefully it will get the bulbs growing. I do see more daffs poking their folliage above ground than were around before that big snow. Now if the cold would leave us they could really start to grow.

I saw on the news that there was lots of snow in the middle of the country with big storms. And north of us supposed to get lots of snow again. Boston supposed to get socked again. Forrtunatly it will be warm enough here that we end up with mostly rain, maybe a rain/snow mix here and there.

It is a lot of snow ! It has just gradually been building up all winter. We haven't had any above freezing weather for quite awhile so am looking forward to tomorrow. I have primula, pansies, penstemons, petunias, snaps, salpiglossis, some favorite columbine, a couple varieties oenethera, some more scotti clematis and I can't think of what else. I don't know where I'm gonna put it all when I put them in sixpacks and I don't know where I'm gonna plant it in my garden outside and I don't know where I'm gonna get the energy to plant them but I'm always optmistic! Hilarious! Hilarious! Whistling

All of the plants I mentioned are up. I started a primula denticulata mixed colors cause all of mine had died down except one color and primula florindae which is new for me. The onethera are biennial and perennial but they don't live over here but they'll bloom the first year when I start them this early. Smiling

So far, I've just wintersowed my primula in jugs. I wonder if I should start some indoors as well? They're new to me this year, so I have no idea of what's the best way to start them. I'm very limited for indoor space, and I have no light set-up, so I usually do everything I can outdoors.

This is what I've started so far http://garden.org/blogs/entry/... .

Chelle,I read your winter sown list on your blog,I got tired just thinking about planting all those plants! Hilarious! Hilarious! I saw that you were starting penstemon palmeri, I love that variety. Lovey dubby I've started it several times and even bought the plant but I've never gotten it to live over. I hope you have better luck Thumbs up
