Thank you! I always enjoy reading "We are stardust" ... irst I think of Carl Sagan saying "Billions and BBBillllions ...", then I hear the song in my mind.

Incidentally, the new mnemonic of choice is actually "My Very Educated Mother Just Served Us Nachos." That takes care of the Pluto problem, changes the "t" to an "e" for people who'd rather remember Earth instead of The Earth, and eliminates the "a" that preceded jelly sandwich, which could make you think there's a planet beginning with "a."

I thought the "a" was the asteroid belt? and that "t" was for terra. I like the new one although I think the time when my brain was remembering those things is over, I'll just keep thinking of Pluto as a planet and a goofy dog Rolling on the floor laughing

Yes! T for Terra and A for Asteroids.

Since theories are more interestng than most facts, and Bode's Law predicts the existence of another planet right where the Asteroid Belt is (in fact near the largest asteroid, Ceres or maybe Vesta), I like having a mnemonic for the Asteroid Belt.

besides, it will be easier to min e them and buld habitats there than on any planet other than (maybe Mars).

>> "My Very Educated Mother Just Served Us Nachos."

That does fit the facts and modern definition of Pluto better. Back in the 1950s when I learned the old one, I don't think I knew what nachos were, but jelly andwic hes were a major part of my life.

Hi Linda

>> I have been having this same problem the last few days but just figured I had messed something up ! This was not a problem previously. So is this just an IE problem ?

As far as I know, probably IE only. Based on the fact that every other wierd display problem I've had, when looked at by Dave, seemed on ly to b e seen with IE. And I have an old Ie ... IE7. What version do you see under "Help" "About Internet Explorer"?

My problem started right about the ti8ime I decreased my monitor's resolution in "Desktop proertiees" - "Appearance".

I tried reverting my screen resolution to 1280x1024, but that did not get my 3 lines back.

So I went back to 1152x864 so I* could read fine print.

Still got 2 lines of sig, not three.

Oh, well, I can test my sig chnages from home with FireFox.

Wierdly, if I select different text sizes in IE7 View menu, I see MORE lines of sig as I go to LARGER text sizes.

As If the mapping between IE7 text sizes and "normal Internet" text sizes were "stetched wrongly" so that IE7 tells web apps that it's small fonts are bigger, than they really are.

LARGEST - 2.9 lines readable
LARGER - 2.5 lines
Medium - - 2 lines
smaller - - 2 lines
(smallest) - - 1.5 lines

I've come to the conclusion that any of us still using IE7 deservers what we get. It's out-of-date and we should move to a "real" browser. No blame to dave: he is smart to make the site compatible with 99.9% of MODERN browsers instead of twisting it like a pretzle to handle Ancient Technology, and probably break the display for the 99%.

I think it has been improved since ATP Day One. With my browser and editiro, I couldn't get newlines or carriage returns to work. Everything collapsed into one continuous block of text, likea run-on paragraph.

When I had a chance to use FireFox, I got a spell checker! Oh boy, no longer illiterate!

My blog here looks exactly the same on Firefox and IE8. I even switch to IE8 to work on the blog sometimes because Firefox doesn't let me copy and paste on the blog pages, but IE8 does.
