Johnny Jump Up

These little plants are a permanent fixture in my garden. They are also known as Viola tricolor and self sew themselves in small colonies.

Thanks everyone. These little jewels of varied color are most welcome any time of the gardening year. They are easy to grow and care for. They almost are a natural wild flower self-propagating themselves by seeds. A word of caution, they can be a bit invasive where not wanted. Violas form small colonies and are quite inviting in gardening arrangements. Individual gardeners will be the final judge. I vote "thumbs up" for them! Thumbs up This is the photo I used for the banner.

Adorable! What more can I say.....love the plant, great fit for the banner. The flower petals seem to be in the Pansy family pattern. This kind of colonization I like.

Those Viola are so friendly looking and they match your iris.--I especially love the darker rims of the viola. I am going to purchase them. Thanks for introducing them.

Beautiful banner and pic Leon.

I love violas and pansies, but so do the wild cottontail rabbits.

One year I planted 24 violas. In a couple of days, one or more wild rabbits ate all of them down to the ground and they never grew and/or bloomed again. I've planted violas and pansies in containers and they ate them all up. I'd like to plant them again, but if I do, I'd have to plant them into a tall container to keep the rabbits from getting to them.
Welcome to the Agastache and Salvias Forum!

Hummingbirds are beautiful flying jewels in the garden!

I agree, what a joyful sight to start the day! Delightful banner Leon!! I tip my hat to you.

I'm in the pansy and viola club too. Cannot imagine winter and spring without them. I was thinking the same thing, they are the perfect companion to your profile pic, Code of Honor! Lovey dubby
