Looks like you have your work cut out for you. I have seen that with cactus seeds the person soaks the seeds with a couple of drops of dish soap before cleaning.

today i decided to do the spotty dotty seed pods
and as i was looking them over i see an exotic cross that survived, most didn't
it is SDiS Spotty Dotty x Imperial Sunrise
but it only has one viable seed so crossing my fingers

Thumb of 2020-09-27/Strever/a13f70

as i got that seed i realize the SD seed are so much easier then Kaleidoscope because they don't have the
slimy sticky fleshy stuff, they are almost dry
so i gathered all the SDs and the small ones only had 1 seed ea some 2 and the largest had 4
so not that many SDK seed

Thumb of 2020-09-27/Strever/c70fa5

and here they are put to bed to become little SDKs

Thumb of 2020-09-27/Strever/a4e266

still have over 20 Kaleidoscope to do

well i got the rest of the Kaleidoscope seed
squeezed them out of the pods and washed them in the strainer
then laid them out on paper to dry the Mucilage which is what the slimy sticky coating is called
i googled removing Mucilage and one of the methods was to dry them and the Mucilage would be easier to remove
the professionals use diluted acids which i do not want to go near
here are the seed which i haven't decided exactly what i am going to with them all
i already have over a hundred in rockwool & guessing there are more then 200+ here

What about a very weak solution of oxalic acid

Dick have you ever tried direct sowing them in your garden to see if they germinate?

I am going to guess these seeds need no stratification since you normally plant them right away in your greenhouse.

the green house temp is set at 55° and i mist them once a day
i should have brought a small batch inside the house at the warmer 72°
to see what temp differences make ?
mine outside are not showing either but they are below out of sight
so it might be temp
it might be moisture
we shall see Smiling

The ones outside here are in frozen solid ground so will have to see if they come up in the Spring. In the house I keep mine cool in the 60 degree or less area.

i have been absent for a month from here & in the green house for health reason
and after that length of time the seedlings are showing the answer to previous question
what makes them sprout ?
the tray that was sprouting first last month kinda dried out
and some of the sprouts are no longer
Thumb of 2021-01-24/Strever/93b294

but another tray along side this one had more moisture
and this is the results
Thumb of 2021-01-24/Strever/6ca90d

the same seedlings out side in the garden have not shown at all
