Looks great Bea, just hope mine come back after the winter! I have one group that has come back for 3 or 4 years and have got slightly bigger each year. It was sold as a spotty dotty but looks very different from Dick's

it is raining today so cannot linger in the garden or any outdoors
so i decided to play in the greenhouse
the last but not least seed pods (RedPanda X Kaleidoscope) turned out to be the least Sad
Thumb of 2021-09-27/Strever/5174b2

BUT
something i did not mention previously because i figured it would also be empty as it has been the last 2 years, my 3 year old seedling SDK seed pods
which i have been trying to pollinate W/ Kaleidoscope Took Smiling Smiling Smiling
Thumb of 2021-09-27/Strever/70bec8

i opened the first one Very Happy to see seed Smiling Smiling Smiling Smiling
and it seems the SDK's inherited SD's seed covering which is not as messy as K
Thumb of 2021-09-27/Strever/306901

opened all 3 & the seed look good
Thumb of 2021-09-27/Strever/23a121

now will wait to see what they become
to the left of the red line is seed from a pod i tested of K and to the right are the new SDK x K

Glade you got some seed , to bad about the Red Panda. I was interested in what you would have gotten from them.

hi Bea
the seed medium in the pict is Rockwool i have left over from years ago
it is now expensive compared to when i bought it years ago
but if i didn't have it i would use fine seed starter soil in multi hole starter trays
or seed starting plug kits like from home depot or your nursery
anything sterile for the seed to start in is fine
as long as you keep it moist not soggy
the rockwool is just easy to use
and last year i had a lot of seed in the garden also germinate

today i did 5 Kaleidoscope pods
i soaked them first in hot tap water
then left them to dry
Thumb of 2021-10-03/Strever/fd0c50

and after an hour picking the dry mucilage off which requires thumb nails Smiling
and i didn't have to wash my hands after each seed like when it is fresh gooey
i decided to use 2 different sterile artificial soils for them (Rockwool and small jiffy plugs)

Strever… Nice job. I use jiffy plugs so easy peasy.. I tip my hat to you.
There's more than one way to obtain a green thumb.. peal gooey seeds all day. Rolling on the floor laughing

it seems some lessons take for ever to learn
i put the Kaleidoscope seed in both the Rockwool and Jiffy peat plugs at the same time
and this is first time i have noticed a diff in germination time
Rockwool
