Connie, it might have been your cross too on the seed exchange. I remember buying it because I liked the picotee on 'Sinfonia'

I have done Sinfonia x S2. I was hoping to get a rose throat with a nice pink edge on some of them.

If it is a first year flowering, that is a pretty low virus tolerance for a seedling, unlike both parents. That's pretty quick turn around for a seedling and virus.

Thanks Tracey. Of course I am hoping some siblings share the same traits so I can cross them to eachother next year.

So this might be a stupid question. But is pollen on a first bloom seedling still viable?

First bloom or not, the same genetics should still be there, even if the bloom itself is ugly or deformed. This is really advantageous because so often you want to use a new, cool flower in breeding, but don't want to use a first blooming plant as a pod parent (because it's not mature enough to handle the stress). But, you can always use it as a pollen donor. Thumbs up

Thanks for the answer Rick. I heard someone say pollen was not good on a seedlings first bloom ever. I mean, it isn't like there is anything to lose in trying either.

This one is a color I haven't seen here, almost a brownish red.

Nice contrast in a 2n trumpet, even though it is a bit weathered from our spring disaster

Probably my favorite of any 4n asiatic that I have made.the color is a deeper apricot.

Nice variety, Tracey, and those colors on the first two are fantastic. And, I know the camera never pics it all up, either!

Seedlings from seed from the NALS seed exchange:

15-157 Blue Flash x Purple Heart. Tow plants, but I think they are the same clone. Super strong stems. I went to untangle the petals for a better pic, and one snapped off. Oops, I said to myself ... I had better be extra careful. Then proceeded to snap another off! Yikes, they are a heavy substance, but incredibly brittle!

These are some little cuties. So far, up to 20 flowers on a inflorescence spike only a foot high. Flower size ranges from 3 to 4.5 inches when fully open.

Very nice Rick, I particularly like that maturation, quite a lot actually.

I can't tell you how many times, pulling a weed, or trying to get a photo, I have wrecked flowers...crunch...oooops....or in daylilies, the entire scape on a first year bloomer.

Blue Flash, I would have expected some speckling in there with Purple Heart, or a tango. You just never know, do you?

Tracey, your seedlings are gorgeous! I like that brown one, kind of a bronzy je ne c'est quoi. I also really like the trumpet and the 4n apricot one and the next bronzy one. Good job!

Rick, love your spotty dotty seedlings! Nice bud count on the Guntis Grants seedling.

And I have to admit I have stepped on or otherwise broken off many a seedling. Why do they keep getting in my way? They should know better when they see me coming!

Can't wait to see what they look like Anthony! I continue to work on the tetraploid pink edged trumpet lilies. Here is CT3-1-3 x CT3-1-1:
Thumb of 2020-07-06/pardalinum/e9bc9d

I grew out 4 seedlings from Sim's CT3-1 cross (this is Sim's lot #). CT3-1-1 was the best pink of the 4. The "3" stands for the year Sim's sold the seed (2003). So it has been awhile... I just disposed of all four seedlings because they looked too wonky and were growing near a virused lily that I also discarded. But I have other material now to work with such as:

Tracey's Sinfonia x Angel Gabriel:
Thumb of 2020-07-06/pardalinum/b9c3b0

And a Griesbach tet seedling:
Thumb of 2020-07-06/pardalinum/52fc26

I seriously don't like the degree of central yellow so will select for a reduction of that. However I have heard that it is very difficult to get rid of.

And a cultivar purchased as Eastern Moon:
Thumb of 2020-07-06/pardalinum/6d1a1e

I've been doing all combinations of crosses with these and hope I'll have seed for the exchange later this year.

Connie, I used to think it would be tough to get rid of seedlings or NOIDs, but I'm getting better at it. Your climate allows for such nice colors to come through, it's tough for me to tell if it is Eastern Moon or not.

David, nice to see so many, nice color of the pink trumpets and the Griesbach looking top two OTs are nice as well. And though the spring was a disaster I'm super happy to have some seedlings to view. I bet you are too.

Busy building a lily collection...
I haven't posted for a while as a cool, wet June has put me behind on weeding and grass cutting. Lilies have had to take a bit of a backseat unfortunately. Here are some seedlings that are flowering now. The first is a L. lancifolium var. flaviflorum x "Lion Heart"; it also has produced stem bulbils so I will propagate these further. The second is L. leucanthum var. centifolium, flowering in its second year from planting. Seedlings #3 and #4 came from a packet of seeds I was given when joining NALS in late-2017. There's been a mixture of Asiatic colors, some are a bit muddy but the orange and raspberry brushmark seedlings have clearer colors that I think have some merit. The last white trumpet photo is also from a packet of NALS-joining seeds. These have been very vigorous, with up to 7 flowers per stem in their second year. The colors are nice (I think) with a pale pink blush on some. I will continue with select crosses to propagate this one further. There will be others flowering in the coming weeks and I will post more when they are open.

Great eye Tracey. The first 3 are Griesbach seeds. I am extremely glad to see the seedlings blooming. Now it makes me more excited for next year as well to see how they mature after another year.
