Hello, I am new to having plants and I have never propogated before. I purchased this Philodendron a week ago. I love the plant but there is a huge empty spot in the soil. The plant looks great but I am concerned about it getting leggy. I would prefer a bushy plant. I am worried about pruning it and shocking the plant since it is new. But I would prune it is that meant in the long run that I would have a full plant. I am thinking about taking the cuttings and propagating them in the soil of its own pot. Also, I am considering using a rooting hormone powder for the aerial roots. Do you guys have any words of caution to a newbie? Or should I leave the plant alone?

Its not a Philodendron It is an Epipremnum cultivar called Neon.

The reason it has a blank space in the pot is because when these hanging baskets are put together by the grower they stick a few cuttings into the same pot so that there are more stems otherwise it would be just one, so each 'strand' of leaves in your pot is a separate plant.

Your plant will not get 'leggy'. When planted this way, this plant will only drape and grow down like it is now.

If you want to change that and have substantially bigger leaves you have to train it to grow UP on a totem.

You can cut pieces off the ends of your strands, making certain you get some nodes that have little roots, and just stick them into the black space in the pot. These root easily. But your plant should really be allowed to grow longer before you do that

I agree
I am no expert, but I agree with Gina. I would leave it alone until those strands have at least grown past the bottom of the pot.
