Thread OP

I repotted my sempervivum and the leaves have grown inwards since (see in pictures) it won't sit flush in the potting mix leaving almost all the roots bare due to the tower Shape it now has, can anyone help please as I'm having trouble potting without breaking/stretching the leaves and unable to get soil to the base.

You shouldnt have tried to repot it . When a semp stretches up(and not etiolates up) it usually blooms. Have you been giving it proper care?

Polly,

This doesn't look as though it's blooming but it does seem to want more light. If this is growing INSIDE THE HOUSE that is why it's unhappy. Semps are not house plants. If it is inside gradually adjust it to outdoors.

I would try cutting off some of the bottom leaves that are inverted and then replant the semp with a new soil level.

Blooming of sempervivum does not happen with back curling leaves, the leaves point upwards like normally even if it get taller and taller as it blooms.
It is still etiolated when the leaves back curl and it get higher and higher. I have seen that before actually back in the years, they will get longer and longer, even crawl like that. Usually it happens when there is still a direct light source for only very little time to give some color to the plant, like 1 hour of sun before sunset for example, while est of the day is only indirect low light.

Thank you very much for your advise Kevin, I had been keeping him inside due to having heavy rain fall, I have done some reading further to you advise and I think I was being too precious, worrying it was too much, I have been adjusting him to the outside and hope that his shape and colour return soon.
