Jonna,
Really nice pic and your weather must not have gotten below 50 degree F to get that nice all white. Hurray! Hurray! They really don't need "cold" just a cooling off from hot summer. Darkness for awhile more than anything. will cause budding up.
cliff I tip my hat to you.

No, if it EVER got below 50°f we would have to shut the whole state down! It has been cold this last week, lots of ski parkas and gloves and hats around but truthfully, the lowest it got around 3am one night was 62°f and it has been between 85° and 90° every day.

I'm happy to hear that dark can trigger blooms too. I can arrange for dark Thumbs up Also, did you mean that if it had gotten colder than the white color would have gotten pink or purple? How interesting.

Beautiful pics, everyone. Jacquie, I especially like that peach color. Hurray!

Jonna,
Yes the main bloom trigger is longer time of darkness each day,. and temp below 50 while the buds are forming will cause the white and yellow blooms to turn more pinkish.

We don't get a huge change in the hours of light and dark, 11 hours in winter and 13 in summer. Apparently it is enough though. Now I'm going to look for more of these.

Should be enough, after all they love to grow in this slight change area. I thought it was the winter solstice and the change in the Earths tilt on Dec 21st and 22nd triggered plants. Lovely colour though.
Here, see what cold/frost did to this pencil cactus even though it is a Euphorbia.

I am not feeling sad about the Fire Stick changing colour infact I love the change. It is my orange one that has not changed colour as yet. I tip my hat to you. Maybe I should shift it into the open, away from the structure.

Arif.

Hello everyone! Really love seeing all the photos! For awhile I thought my plant will not join in the blooming trend..finally got one to proceed with its bloom..last year most of the buds blasted..so I will take what it can give, hopefully the rest of the buds will continue to mature Smiling
