Jb, you may be right,i need to go look at any sights i have bookmarked under CC's.My printer isn't working think i just wore it out.So i have a bunch of bookmarked links.

I am with you i know i have read explanations of the 3 main ones but it never seems to sink in!! The starter plants i bought from you are really growing good, beautiful plants. When do i re-pot them up to the next size pot?

Arif, thank you for the kind words !!! Smiling

Jo, Good Morning. I am just about to ship plants but I wanted to show you something first. This is my first bloom of Naomi, the Schlumbergera I bought late last year. She is so pretty. I am delighted she is going to like it here

Another shot is Polka Dancer and Naomi, both are young plants and are just beginning to bloom.

Thumb of 2013-01-07/JB/353f32
Polka Dancer is in the foreground and Naomi is on the right side.

You do not want to replant your new plants until at least Spring. Let them get a good root system before you put them where you want them. They do better a bit pot bound. See you later.

That Naomi is beautiful and tempting huh Whistling Glare thinking where do i have room for her ummm. LOL Guess i should ask Is she in your cubits store? Polka dancer is the only pink i have and i may just need another,i can add another & the hubby doesn't even notice anymore. Rolling on the floor laughing Do you ship them until you run out or it gets to cold or to hot (heat would be my problem).Do you have any plants that you will be adding to your store on cubits or you sale else where on-line that you propagate at different times or after the CC rush is over? Pussy willow etc...

I didn't make myself clear about re-potting the CC's,it's not new ones they are a bit more than a year old & still in the little square pots.I figured spring would be the best time to re-pot them, they are the only 2 pots without even a bud. Shrug! I thought is it possible for them to be to pot bound in that amount of time.

You have a lovely day & thanks for all your help
Jo

Jo, they look good, but you do not want to disturb them until they are done blooming for sure. Let them go until Spring even if you think they are pot bound. They will do much better for you if you do that. Those little roots are still growing.

I have neglected my cubits store since it was not very active and business was booming on eBay. I will look it over and see what I am going to do with it. I will only have begonias, black pussy willows , goldfish, spider and a few jasmine plus what ever is left from the CC from here on until Spring. I do not take cuttings from the Black Pussy Willow for another few weeks so they will be several weeks before they go up for sale.

Naomi is too little yet, so don't get excited about her until next year. I am really trying to keep the inventory down because over the summer the heat just makes it impossible to keep the humidity up in the greenhouse.

Must run....dinner time. Group hug

Here is a few pic of my Buckleyi most of the buds dropped before opening but i did get a few pic.
JB, might have to change my opinion on your Petra's Pink xmas cactus after all. Go to this site and see what you think. read this persons take on the hybrids. http://cactus-epiphytes.eu/z_p... Read the part under Russelliana first 3 are my buckleyi and the next plant i am trying to id.
I bought this last month as Purple Dancer from a grower in Fla. but all the pic i have found of that is nowhere near the color of this 1 and the tube on this bloom was huge almost a 1/2" wide, i have never seen 1 with a tube that wide before. Anyone can help me out I'm all ears! I'm all ears! :bigear

Can I ask a question. Do these give out aerial roots and how do you deal with them?

Arif,
The Schlumbergera's don't put out air roots like the Epis and the Rhipsalis and other Jungle Cacti. sometimes they will put out roots just above the soil line . I haven't had any problems with air roots at all,

They do put out aerial roots, mostly at the phylloclade/stem joints. You can see some on one of my Schlumbergeras.

Which they use to cling to brick work? Tee what is this plant an airborne or terrestrial, should I let it cling to the walls like an Ivy? Let it slowly clad the structure or keep it hanging?

Arif.

They are epiphytic cacti, clump forming where they grow in trees and most often hang downwards. I have never seen them growing on structures but then I'm not growing them in their native habitat. We keep them in hanging pots or otherwise in pots here as they are tender.

Epiphytic cacti, figs or whatever. They tend to find a crack in the structure, sprout and then start clinging all over. Must be doing the same in forks of trees, etc. The qualifying phrase is "in their native habitat". I do not think I am in their native habitat but sure will make a statement while covering the structure it starts to bloom, a show stopper. Let me think how I should go about it I tip my hat to you. .

Arif.

I tip my hat to you. Yes, beautiful. I found a source for these but as they are not flowering yet, no one knows the colour. Tee, they come from Quetta and I do not have much knowledge of that area except it mountainous and very arid. Boils in summer and pipes burst in winters due to water freezing in them. How these things survive Shrug! .

Arif.
