I posted this on another thread so will include it here where it is more appropriate.

Here is a daylily quilt that I like. I certainly have a large stash of cloth. I ordered this quilting pattern last night. Applique is not my favorite thing to do but have done it several times. Our NW GA. Daylily Club is hosting the 2014 Region 5 Spring Meeting. We will have a boutique and items for silent auction. I plan to make this, frame it, and donate for the silent auction. I can always make another one for us if I decide that I want one.

Here is a different daylily quilting idea that is neat. Not my style but I like it and can appreciate it.. http://mysticmeadowsdaylily.blogspot.com/2012/11/quilts-barn...

Thanks, Debra. I just found another one that I like and could make. May order this pattern, too. Scroll down until you see the daylily quilt hanging.

Here is another idea, using a daylily to make a pictorial quilt. This shows how to do it.

Doris do you have a link to your sister's website?

Another quilt I really like. We are getting Mom a barn quilt made for Christmas. She hasn't decided which block yet. I will post a pic when we get put up.

I believe it was Margaret's sister who quilts and has a website. I'd like to see her website also.

I saw a cute idea in a book that was so simple. Painted rocks. I picked up several smooth stones on the Cape Cod beaches that I wanted to use in the garden.

The book showed a painted Fleu de Lis or something simple like Mom's Garden.

Here is a link to some images of painted rocks.

As I scrolled down this link and on page 6 found a picture of the Painted Garden Art book that I bought this summer on Amazon.com or Ebay. It has lots of neat ideas that I hope one day to try a few.

Hope this link works, this is the pattern I have for an applique daylily block. For some reason it is in their banner kinda upside down, at least it looks that way to me Confused but turned upright it is quite pretty.

Painting rocks is a super fun and inexpensive way to add garden art for the beds. I haven't done any in years, this cat is one I did back in '04. The rock was perfect with the tail already "built in".

Oh my gosh Char, that is beautiful! On the crafty forum here on ATP, I have painted rocks - but my turtles and ladybugs are simple compared to your cat! Wow!

I am currently working on Christmas gifts - they are flowers made with old plates & bowls. Just getting my first ones completed, will show you some photos when I get a chance ~Jan

Thank you Kim, Debra and Jan. Here in Vt we grow rocks, at least thats how it seems.... every spring there are rocks where there were none the year before. Rocks can be painted in any style, I've seen them as plant markers, with garden quotes...pet prints, handprints of children...all kinds of fun ways to add inexpensive decoration to the garden. I have some dl's that fit a native american theme, thinking about adding some color with native american patterns to that area. Mosaic tile would be pretty done on rocks, haven't tried that yet.

I'm fascinated by the glass towers, glass flowers can't wait to see images! The crafty/garden art forum here is awesome, good place to get ideas and instructions.

Char, is your native rocks all that smooth? We have sandstone and it is awful to paint on! I brought some back when I visited my daughter.

The stacks are nice. Pinterest has a lot of great ideas for gardening too.

Most of the rocks I have here are smooth, what we call field stone, tumbled and left by the glaciers. They come in all sizes and shapes, flat to bowling balls. There are also ledgestones and granite, If you've ever seen pictures of old stone walls in New England they are typically made from fieldstone. I tend to pick out ones that have a shape/outline that speaks to me. Some look like bunnies, cats, frogs...ever play that game as a kid where you look at the clouds and "see" something in their shape?.... I think I spent waaay to much time outside as a kid.... Whistling
There's a huge stone dug out by the backhoe when we cleared some trees, to me it looks like a lifesize deer laying down. Wish I had a picture of it but DH has stacked firewood over it. For a few years I have been trying to figure out how to move it to the garden so I can paint it....he figures outa sight outa mind.... Smiling
Grew up just north of Boston, next time you're up this way, especilly during bloom season, you should try to come up. About 2 1/2 hr drive.

Char, I used to do the same thing--when I was a child l living in Indiana and Denver. Would still do it at almost 56, but Texas grasses are NOT conducive to cloud watching! Big Grin Big Grin
