Anyone else collect full size quilts? I have a few my favorite is a Amish made Maple Leaf in autumn colors.

I quilted as a young person with my granny and mom.

Teresa, this is not really quilt related, but did you know that Dottie Warrell, hybridizer of Holly Dancer and many other really nice spideries as well as traditional forms - well, she is a fantastic crochet and (I think??) knit person. Each winter, she designs and makes at least 10 afghans. She enters them in contests, state fairs etc, and has had many on the covers of Coats and Clarks and many other magazines. In that world, she is just as well known as she is in daylilies. She made the most wonderful wrap for me. I've seen lots of her afghans and they are wonderful!

Maybe there are a lot of daylily people who are artistic. Another is Jan Norris, Richard's wife from Glouster OH. She is quite the quilter too, I believe. I don't know how involved she is with hybridizing but she does come to a lot of the daylily events. very sweet lady !

Does anyone have a barn quilt on their storage buildings, potting shed or barn? I would like to paint one.

Oooo, nice stuff! I once made a free-form quilt years ago, and now am more drawn to smaller forms. Here's one I really like (though I would change the colors) -- you all are giving me fresh inspiration to try it out, in either fabric or paper! Thanks nodding

have to scroll down a bit on this page:

would love to have this in the garden!

Tina, those are so pretty. I just need to find the extra time to get some projects done. Staying off FB and ATPs would help lol.

I do get inspired from others tho. Have you done any of the mosaics? Pics of your projects please.

...speaking of mosaics ... just tried a dry-run for frosting a "daylily cake." very rough and oversimplified, colors and dimensions are off, only a small segment of larger design, didn't do the white piping, could not get "purple" food coloring to save my life, etc, etc, but this will give the gist of what i was playing with Rolling my eyes.

Thumb of 2014-01-23/chalyse/4a82cc

Making the colors come out right is the part that is stymieing me ... it should be two more-closely matched hues of pink (to show depth/shadow effect) rather than, say, pink and red. And, marbling of color would look more like stained glass. But, it only takes a few items to put together and play around with: powdered sugar, butter, water (alton brown's royal frosting recipe), some ziplock bags for piping with snipped corner, and toothpicks for finer-tune frosting control. Had fun :} .. ultimately that is my only goal with art!

Love the cat on a rock, and the work on a daylily cake. Such
great ideas!!

These photos are not very good. Difficult inside the house
