Julia, great photos of the hellebores. I thought I was familiar with most of the named ones out there, but out of the photos you posted, I am only familiar with 'Anna's Red'.

Hellebores do well in my garden conditions and so far, about four years now, the ravaging deer have left them alone and I continue to hope they don't ever develop a taste for them. I usually just leave the tattered and browned leaves alone in the fall and then trim them all up in the early spring. Nothing blooming in my neck of the woods yet.

I trimmed the leaves off of mine a couple of weeks ago. I was afraid that I had made a mistake, and probably killed my plant! This gives me hope that it should be okay! Hurray!

It should be alright unless you cut too low and removed this years buds.
Stay calm hellebores are tough . Mine take a beating but come back every year.

Didn't check the tag on this one. So much rain didn't want to walk the garden and get wet.

Hoping I get to see mine this year. Started budding up about a week ago and then we had about 4 inches of snow , now they are calling for between 18 and 24 inches Tues. By the time that melts I think most flowers will be destroyed I hope not.

Let us know how they turn out, we have Hellebores and we often get late snows...usually not that much.

@NJBob

We are suppose to get 4" - 12" I only have two so I put flower pots over them I had big buds they were not open yet. I will see if that worked when the snow melts. Four days in the 30s then in the 50s

We will get between 8 and 18 inches. I am not too sure about my hellebores.
They leafed out nicely, especially the dark leaves. Then we had near zero weather, all hellebores look frozen including any budding.

Hope you'll be seeing the hellebore blooms after the snow melts. Here in Texas, I am more worried about early hot weather

Those are nice ones Anna.
We ended up with 24 1/2 inches and are supposed to get up to 6 more tomorrow so it looks like it will be quite awhile till I know how they are doing. No real warm days in the forecast with only 1 over 40 in the next 10.

Paradenia, rather large flower:

I planted Joker last spring and it proves to be an early and terrific bloomer. I love how it holds its side facing flowers above the foliage. Lovey dubby

Those are great. I like the new hybrids that are easier to photo.
