You looked? I just looked and they do have Honeysweet. Or did you mean that you called and asked them? Did you know they list the Buck roses on a separate page?

oh rats.. I didn't know they had the Bucks on a separate page, I was just going by their master page. Either that, or I'm blind.

I'm voting blind. Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing

I wonder what they'll have available for the sale? damn damn damn.. I wish I'd seen that before I got my order shipped...

I'm hoping that this year's sale won't be off a list. Sometimes they just have a blanket sale -- half-price on all roses or three roses for the price of two. Some choices are bound to be sold out, but that happens even when there's a limited variety on sale.

Chamblees has Honey Sweet also. I grow it and love it. It did great last year. It also had very little die back this year in spite of the terrible cold and ice storms.

I rarely go to Home Depot, unless Lowe's doesn't have something I need. I had bought plants from the local Home Depot in the past and they died. The plants on display are sickly and not well cared for, especially the roses. That may be just the local store manager's fault. The store itself is not nearly as well organized as Lowe's.

Lowe's is starting to get garden things in stock. The only had a few sickly Floral Carpet roses. No thank you. I always seem to miss the great deals at Lowe's. My neighbor got a flat of pansies for a quarter. Unless I see a large, very healthy, own root rose at a very good price, I will pass. I always check Walmart in case they get Austin roses in again. I had gotten Wildeve there several years ago.

The stores here haven't even gotten the body bags and the knockouts in yet. So far, I see mostly annuals and tomatoes. I start more interesting varieties from seed. Our official last frost date is the end of May. So far, the stores have all of their plants inside.

Went to my fav. Home Depot today. It's only like 30 miles from home so I don't go there too regularly (up I25 to downtown Denver). Picked up 4 Blue Girls and a Wildfire plus a couple of cherry tomato plants. I had picked up a nice Tricolor Beech on Saturday and put that in the ground as well. Had to do some weeding - I tried to grow grass in my yards for years... Haven't been able to grow grass to save my life. This year, I can't get rid of the damned stuff!! Just pulled up a 50gal bag full of gorgeous grass that would look like a golf course if I mowed it.. Too bad it's mixed up in my roses & around my trees!! Supposed to rain Monday & Tuesday, can't wait!!

Lagerfeld didn't like the winter, but he survived. He is a dainty fellow. Honey Sweet has buds already in spite of a bit of die back. (The previous year, honey sweet had no die back) The late winter ice storms were very hard on the roses this year.

OM came in a big 5 gal bucket, beautiful root system, strong healthy canes. Maybe I got uber lucky? Just doing the happydance (being careful not to rub my lower back where I got sunburned from weeding & planting earlier...)

You did get lucky. The only ones I've ever found have been sickly bag roses with one or two canes. I'll have to go see whether our local Home Depot has them. Sue? Are you reading this?

You know who has a big healthy one, Toni? Dana. Remember Dana? She hardly posts here anymore, but her photo of it is here:

http://cubits.org/roses/thread...

You actually were part of the discussion on that thread and you were discouraged that it was only available at Vintage as a custom-rooted plant.

Zuzu - if you want, I can pick you up one too. They're $24.99. I'd have to take out a lot of the soil so it wouldn't cost an arm-tooth&leg to ship.

Amazing color! I can see why you would want to try to grow it even if it is persnickety.

Zuzu - the bucket didn't have a hybridizer name on it, nor did have any kind of "do not root cuttings" type warning on it. I can send cuttings if you'd like.

I'd much rather have a whole plant if you happen to go there again and see one. The price sounds good to me.
