The good ones must stop in Denver. they for sure don't make it to the Home Depots in Kansas!
I've been so envious of Toni when I read about the great roses she finds. Earlier this week i was in Lowes and decided to see if they had anything other than Knockouts, when I saw a display of HT's for $5 on clearance! I looked and about screamed! They had Walking on Sunshine...for $5!!!!! I bought 3! They were in great shape, blooming. I've searched every nursery around here for that rose, and all were either sold out or couldn't get it. So now I'm not quite as jealous of Toni.
(They also had Black Cherry, Sheer Bliss, Cinco de Mayo, Mardi Gras, Toro and Laura Bush!)
Score one for Cindi! And what's even funnier...I bought enough that my little hybrid car was full and overweight, so I didn't go inside to check out the clearance racks. A friend called me the next day to tell me she was in there on her lunch hour and several big racks were full of plants marked down to .25. She said she couldn't wait in line and she wanted me to go buy some for her. Told me about all the great plants she saw. Big pots of lilium, dianthus, salvias, etc etc. I couldn't get away until 9:30 that night, and when I got there, what was left was pretty sad. The clerks told me about all the great plants I had missed. The racks had been there for 3 days, and it wasn't until that day that they started selling. For once, I was ok with that. No problem. I got my Walking on Sunshine roses and I was happy for all the other people who went home with bargains. Less for me to have to plant and water, and maybe I'm kicking my plant obsession. So happy dance all the way home. And..they still had a few of the Walking on Sunshine left. Silly people, buying dried up petunias and passing up a great rose.
I am sorry I couldn't help my friend get some. She buys for me all the time.
