Hello everyone,
I've been thinking about establishing something.
I'm thinking some kind of group for people with the same hobby.
Gardening and bulbs in particular.
There aren't many around here.
Problem is, I am not sure how to.
And I'm not sure it would really be what I'm looking for.

Any ideas? Any of you got some experience?

Hi Fixpix, I recently joined the local Pacific Northwest's (Seattle and region) Gesnariad society, (which is African violets, Streptocarpus, Gloxinia, and many other types) and what I "get from this" is; more info about specific plants, hearing about plants I already have/know something about, or hearing about brand new plants that I like! Also sharing photos, or even baby plants, so I'm building my plant collection! Hurray!
Its been very valuable to me. Oh yes and also being around people that love plants as much as I do, and wanting to share their knowledge and joy!
Good luck, I think its a good idea, and you may find that there are more people than what you expect, who have an interest!
Cheers
Greg

Thanks Greg,
I've been having such ideas for long.
Even starting a small botanical garden around here. But that's way more than I CAN! :)

Hey Greg,
Thanks for the nice words.

Yup... I see some similarities, but the good thing is Achimenes bloom kinda abundantly, not like the Streptocarpus.
And another good thing, they go dormant in winter and i have no worries.
I wish all houseplants were like that!
:)

Lovely view. I got a nice ivew from my window... will find some pics later on when I'm home.

Hi Calin, I looked up your plant, and they are also gesneriads, which is the same family as Streptocarpus, no wonder they look similar Hilarious!
Please do post photos, these plants look amazing and I've never heard of them!
This past summer like I said earlier in this post, I joined the Puget Sound Gesneriad Society, so I meet every now and again with "plant geeks" and they talk away and I understand only a little of what they're saying, but they like having me there, because I treat these plants like house plants and they grow and flower for me Hurray! Hurray!
Totally understand what you mean though about having plants that go dormant so you can have a little break! Rolling on the floor laughing
Okay, anyway, good to meet you and be in touch
Greg
Peace

I was surprised to see a double one

This purple one is the most common one around here. When someone's got Achimenes, it's this one

Wow, all of the photos are gorgeous!! The Achimenes are very cool!! My main interest lately is Sempervivums (which one hopes won't flower - until they have many babies to carry on Sticking tongue out )
Photos of my new bambinos!
