Great photos of Camille Pissarro, Sue, and I love the Grimaldi photo, Steph. Did you get it from Ashdown?

Yep zuzu, I got it from ashdown.
I ordered roses des cisterns. Gosh I think that was the name ( forgive my spelling)and they sent me grimaldi instead. I do love it.
Then I tried ordering that rose special from hortico and they sent it to me in the heat of summer and it died..
Did you ever get that rose zuzu? Does first edition have a sent?

I don't know if First Edition has any fragrance, Steph. I never leaned down to sniff it. I'll try to remember to do that the next time it blooms.

As for Rose des Cisterciens, it's funny you should ask about it because I was just thinking about it today. My Camille Pissarro has put out its first blooms for the year and some bug chewed on the edges of the petals. It actually makes it look like Rose des Cisterciens.

Here's a photo of Rose des Cisterciens from helpmefind.com that's a dead ringer for Camille Pissarro after a bug chews on the petals.

http://www.helpmefind.com/rose...

Under the "buy from" tab on HMF, I see that Hortico is still pretending to have this rose. I was on the Ashdown waiting list for it for a long time, but they never did succeed in rooting it. Then I ordered it from Hortico about five times. They kept putting it on back order. Finally, they did what they always do when they're just pretending they have a rose: They sent me Rose des Cisterciens, but when it bloomed it was just that same old white rugosa they sent me every time I ordered something really special.

Lame is right! Hortico, Heirloom, and Rogue Valley have all done that to me. Rogue Valley usually sends me moss roses instead of the ones I order, and I have never ordered a moss rose from them.

Great Show!

I have been an admirer of Delbard roses from afar, often wondering whether the photo of Imperatrice Farah in Botanica's Roses (1996) depicted the best looking hybrid tea rose ever. Or if, maybe, it was Grand Siecle (Great Century).

I planted Altissimo last year, from VG. It made one stunning red flower that lasted, I think, two whole weeks. Then this spring's repeated freezing/thawing killed the canes down to the ground. There is much question in my mind as to whether it will return. There are some green leaves forming at ground level, so there is hope.

Gingersnap is definitely on my list. And I have been dreaming of growing Black Beauty.

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but I've been absolutely seduced by the Delbard roses. Tough as nails against disease, and the Grands Parfums collection is stunning.

I've got 7 of their roses.

Here's Sœur Emmanuelle in bloom.

The fragrance is astonishing, an anise/myrrh perfume, but soft and floral.

Welcome! @sasquatchx and definitely no need to apologise!

I agree with you, Delbard has bred some truly amazing roses. Your 'Sœur Emmanuelle' aka Dieter Muller is gorgeous. I can also recommend La Rose du Petit Prince which was introduced in Australia by Rankins this year under the name 'Blue Emotion'. Extremely healthy with a wonderful scent.

Thank you, Sasquatchx, for resurrecting this thread. I love Delbard roses, but I can't imagine why I included Black Beauty, a Kordes rose, among mine at that time.

Your photo of Soeur Emmanuelle is lovely. Can we see photos of your other Delbard roses? And would you please add your photo of Soeur Emmanuelle (Dieter Muller) to our database? We don't have any photos of that rose in the database yet.

Yay! I was so scared I had put my foot in it!

The Sœur Emmanuelle / Dieter Muller is one of the six very young roses I've got in pots.

The first Delbard rose I got was an anniversary present from my hubby, and it was potted Nahema. And wouldn't you know it, there actually *two* roses in the pot!

I'm waiting for the other newbies to put on a show. The Dioressence put out a single (albeit large) flower, and I missed the opportunity to take a good snapshot of it before a massive storm came through. I'll post pics when they bloom.

Here are the Nahemas, 3 years later, and it is a privilege to be able to enjoy them. The first pic is out of the kitchen window.

I think I'm addicted: I just came home this afternoon with what appears to be a new Delbard: Cœur de Neige (delkorma).

Small buds on it, so hopefully it'll flower soon!

However, I can't seem to find any info on it. It doesn't appear on George Delbard's page, and the "delkorma" code brings back Korma recipes on Google.

Congrats!! Look forward to seeing some pics!
There is an entry for Coeur de Neige on HMF but there isn't a breeder code. Searching 'delkorma' only brought up the link to rosesalesonline.com. Where did you find the breeder?

Coeur de Neige appears to be available only in Australia at this time, but it looks wonderful. There's a pretty photo of it on the Rankins site.

Yeah, it's odd, isn't it. Rankins Roses supply most of the Delbards in Australia, so obviously Coeur de Neige had the customary great big sticker saying that it's a Delbard rose, part of the "Grands Parfums" collection (which is always misspelt!) and it has the code thingamajig (don't know what it's called) saying "delkorma".

The Coeur de Neige looks about 2 years old, and it's got some really solid growth on it, with upright stems already about 60cm high, with little buds on top. Hopefully the horrendous weather that is being predicted over the next few days won't kill them off. Apparently we are getting 31C tomorrow, and 38C on Monday. Then a cool southerly change with storms and showers.
