When enlarged, your image is quite blurry. Can you take additional photos closer to a window or outdoors for better lighting and focusing? Also some photos of the bloom, leaves and the entire plant would be very helpful.

Hi Danaro28, Welcome!

It is difficult to offer an exact ID from the single photo provided. As Sue mentioned, when we enlarge your photo, it's a bit too blurry to tell for sure what it is. Can you offer additional information like how tall the plant grows, does it have a woody base or stems like a shrub or is it more of a herbaceous perennial? If you can upload a photo of the tops of the leaves and also pictures of the flowers, I'm sure we can narrow it down and possibly give you an exact ID.

I hope this picture is a little better, the problem is it has completely died and I just got this one picture of the bloom and I might have more of the whole thing too

So it's dead or has just gone dormant? Confused

It does look dead. It reminds me somewhat of Salvia but that's just a really wild guess! One for comparison that may do okay in the central part of the state is Autumn Sage (Salvia greggii) but I doubt it would survive in South Florida.

Aw Danita was my nickname a few years back! Thank you, it really looks similar and maybe it just wasn't going to survive in a miami apartment, then I took it outside on a balcony and it did end up dying. I am a novice (yellow green) green thumb. I don't know how to bring it back. When they die everything dead, does it need to be cut back. Thanks for everything.

Yes, it was a Salvia greggii variety or hybrid. When it gets all crispy it's a goner. It would need extremely bright light (think direct sun)indoors, but probably would have lived on the balcony. Like many of those at this time of year it was desperately in need of repotting into a bigger container. The pot was just too full of roots. It would need to be watered every day to keep it alive. You could try again with either a younger plant or repotting it immediately when you get it home.

Oh thank you so much, ok so is there any hope, if I re pot and I cut off all the dry and twiggy branches to be just the main bark in the center. I can leave it outside and water daily. Do you think it will come back to life or is it a goner? Haha thank you!

Scrape some of the bark near the base, if there is any green, there is a chance it may send out new shoots. If brown, toss it.

Oh wow, thank you so much for all your help. I'll see what's under the bark.
