Karen, 1972?The year I graduated from high school! I'm still waiting for someone to come out with a movie based on Kings book The Tommyknockers. I think there was, maybe a made for tv one, but not a good presentation of the book. Now that was a creepy book! A fresh take on aliens are here on Earth, only we don't know it.

Lynda, The Stand was released in 1978. I read it while I was pregnant. Smiling . I remember well, that I identified with Franny.

I graduated from high school a couple of years before you.

We were going to watch 'Leave Her to Heaven' a 1945 psycho thriller with Gene Tierney, but accidentally bought Heaven Can Wait, also 40s Gene Tierney, so watched that. Actually pretty clever, romantic comedy. What a gorgeous woman, Gene TIerney. And a young Don Ameche. The story line is completely different from the 1978 Heaven can Wait with Warren Beatty.
Plant it and they will come.

We've been watching Longmire on Netflix, good show; haven't read the books, though.

We watched Longmire a couple of years ago. We really liked it.

Can you imagine how much worse this pandemic would have seemed without streaming services?

I'm not ever judgmental about anyone's consumption of alcohol. Just glad I'm not addicted to it anymore. 😁 I feel very lucky to have so much available to watch through streaming services and my favorite series. Almost too many choices! Way back in the dark ages ( circa 1974 ) in my wildest dreams I could never imagine the thousands of choices in media today. Back then the TV we had was NBC, ABC, CBS,and PBS.

They made a very bad mini series of The Tommyknockers in the early 90's , A movie was supposed to come out last year but never heard any more about it. Do not know if covid delayed or they did not go through with it.

I have two series that I'm watching on Netflix right now. When I need a good raunchy laugh I watch The Ranch. When I need a heartwarming moment I watch Call The Midwife. I hope I don't get the plots mixed up!

I forgot about Call the Midwife. I watched a few episodes of that a year or two ago. My husband wouldn't want to see that though. He'd say "chick flick".

My husband endured/enjoyed Call the Midwife- didn't even cringe with the births. We liked Phyllis Crane, and Chummy, and more, really all the characters. He likes wholesome.

I cringe at every birthing scene, whether in a drama, a documentary, a horror film or *every**sitcom**ever**made* (Why must they always portray the husband as total idiot?) I also find working-class life in 1960's England quite depressing.
Quite like 'Born and Bred', and 'The Indian Doctor'. Loved 'Ballykissangel' for the village, but was thoroughly disgusted by the same cop-out they did in 'Grantchester'. What, like no priest ever quit to get married?
Behind every opportunity is a disaster in waiting.

NJBob said:New season of Maine Cabin Builders started tonight. Can not figure out how they do so much work for the budgets provided. Also have been watching a lot of Flea Market Flip , they come up with real interesting projects from mostly old junk.

Oh I love the Maine Cabin Masters show. They do a great job!!

Not like a show I watched something by the Fords/ Brother and sister. Had $110.000

So redo upstairs apartment of beautiful old house. Redo rooms but not touch any bathroom, No new bath either. So to redo one room they tell the homeowners need another $15,000 to do it.

A lot of money for what they did.

$15K is a lot of money, unless it is a bath or kitchen.
