Very interesting plant Lindsey! I wasn't aware of Renanthera bella prior to today. Well I should not say that because I might have forgotten it by now but regardless, a compact, more manageable Renanthera is refreshing to see! So the blooms and plant are more compact then and the color is just as spectacular? I can see why you looked so hard for it.
Seems like the background color is a golden yellow maybe with brilliant red markings? Very nice. I know some of those Renanthera hybrids can get to be over a meter in height. So here you still get gorgeous color I imagine on a compact plant?!
How cool is that?!?!?! Thumbs up Lovey dubby

But Wynn McPheeters? Gee wiz that seems a little odd. I guess he made the cross. How about Ren. Solar Fire or Ren. Solar Flare or Ren. Hot Lava??? Wynn McPheeters??? No way.

Yes, very cute!! Lovey dubby And I will henceforth call it "Lindsey's cute Renanthera!! " Thumbs up Even smaller than monachica.
And yes, this is one of those Schomburgkias with tall spikes, although this particular growth was a bit late in the season and a bit smaller. But I have a piece of the alba monster and the spike on that will surely bloom in the ceiling. ...While in the meanwhile the huge mother plant was busy adding growth without spikes.....
( I had split off some pieces to be able to lift that mother-monster)

Very nice Show, Lindsey!! Lovey dubby

The problem child is still going strong. The flowers have relaxed a bit but are still pretty wonky and the original flower is still upside down. They have been in bloom for two weeks now and still look fresh.

Well at least it bloomed. That is better then anything I have at the moment!

Ursula, you have given us a view of a Dendrochilum we seldom see. What a beautiful flower they are.
And Saranac Lake just seems to want to bloom its little โค๏ธ out, doesn't it?!

I agree, it is blooming, Alice! Sometimes I see late growth/getting the wrong signal perhaps when I move my plants inside in the Fall and those late bloomers are many times a tad wonky! Yours looks like a pretty plant and the colors are very nice!!
Take a closer look at the Orange Nuggett, the third bloom on the bottom didn't resupinate!

Thanks Bill. Yes, the Saranac Lake blooms on old canes and I am always amazed how and when they come back to life. Smiling
