Apparently there is a female in Alaska that is paired to a Bald Eagle and they have produced chicks. It must really be a sight with the male Bald being so much smaller than the Steller's.

Well that is certainly going to be interesting. Now I'm dying to know if the chicks turned out like him or turned out like her or somewhere in between.
I am a strong believer in the simple fact is that what matters in this life is how we treat others. I think that's what living is all about. Not what I've done in my life but how I've treated others. ~~ Sharon Brown

There was one suspected juvenile in 2004, but I haven't been able to find anything more recent. The pictures look like a Bald Eagle, but bigger with an enormous beak.

Great photo of the Kestrel, Dirt! Thumbs up Thumbs up

Interesting about the Steller sea eagle, what a magnificent looking raptor. I was wondering as I read the story about it mating, couldn't find any history of that happening, but did find that eagles will mate with other species, so it is possible, a new species. Lovey dubby

Do we have a new thread! Every warm day I'm outsid and I'm still seeing large flocks of geese going overhead. I never get tired of seeing them.

Oh great! Well, they are coming here to overwinter and poop on every yard and driveway and street. Crying Sad
But I love them too...they are beautiful birds!

John, these geese are so high in the sky I would miss them if they weren't honking! Now when the blackbirds arrive in huge flocks, that's when the poop starts flying! Hilarious! They should be arriving soon. Just glad I now live in a house with a carport!

Canadian geese think they own the road and lawn! They are not afraid of anything either! 15 or 20 of them will walk SLOWLY across the road looking straight at you. Honking does no good. Half of them decide they didn't want to cross the street anyway, and turn around and SLOWLY walk back. The trail of green poop they leave behind is disgusting! But, being the bird lover I am, they are still beautiful birds - minus the poop! Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing I tip my hat to you.

We have year round Canada's residing here on our lake. I love them, too, but their poo? Disgusting. Love to watch the ugly goslings in the spring. They are good parents.
