He does a FANTASTIC job with gift and bonus plants - I am already planning next years order. (getting too late to plant here, and I STILL have some to pop into the ground this weekend)
And so far, every single plant I got from Maryotts late last fall, is doing fantastic - with many reblooming (which is a surprise - since I have never had reblooms before)
I too tried pots in the garage (40 degrees in winter) the first year I really got into daylilies - and many got rust. But then, I had massive amounts of aphids (have never had aphids before) - so I tossed all the pots outside and protected them well - and lost every single one to crown rot - as has been mentioned - it wasn't winter that killed them, but spring. I didn't know about the tipping them on their sides trick. Have never tried it again. Now I just use leaves to mulch, and hope for some - but not too much snow, and will plant them all.
I really wanted to place another order this year, then realized I am kidding myself - I am busy busy busy the next three weeks, and in fact, won't be at home much during that time - and am better off waiting until spring to place that order - even though I DON'T WANT TO WAIT!
But I will.
But you all are NOT HELPING!!!
