Sunshine Blue is my favorite, but I think it & Summer Sorbet are sterile as they never produce babies. However, my .. Dark Knight? Black Knight? Something like that, that's the one that goes to town. Mine went absolutely inSANE last year.. They ate my pond area.

I sold most of these big ones for $25/ea and sent some to a fellow ATPer (babies). In that pond area, there's only 5 plants that took up a 12' l x 6' w wall on the fence side & a 12' l x 4' w next to the house.

Teri - All those plants are gone, sold them all. I also transplanted the silvermounds out of there as they were taking over that area too & choking out my roses. I planted woodland phlox & verbena in that area around the ponds themselves, with irises along the fence / house line. I also put in 3 more roses in that area as well.. Neptune, Moody Blues, & either Blue Nile or Charles de Gaulle.. can't remember who now.

Clint - Cindi in KS is fighting RRD too. Sad And Gloria in MI was fighting Japanese beetles bad. She used milky spore (?), and it helped a little. Neem oil is supposed to help as well. Luckily I don't have either problem.. I just have extreme drought & wild weather snaps (80degs in the day, -14 at night...)

Teri - I need to do an exact count & map my yard, but I'm guessing I have around 300 or so.

I too was wondering why some of my Agastaches don't reseed. I think the rupestris does.

Beautiful pics! Thumbs up

Couple of possible reasons for no re-seeding. Some crosses are sterile as somebody already pointed out. Sometimes if there's an early touch of frost the flowers won't set seed. That happens a lot if you're up in the mountains - I used to live in Salt Lake City, and still garden in my daughter's yard there.

Most of all, certain birds develop a taste for certain types of flower seeds, and snarf up every single one. Then they go and poop them in the neighbor's yard, I'm pretty sure.

Wonderful flower bed pics! I'm getting antsy to try some more Ag's here this year. Maybe if I keep them in pots so I can keep the roots dry-ish? Got nice plants from Select Seeds last year, and they have Apache Sunset again this year, but I'm thinking I'll try "Summer Glow" which is supposed to tolerate wetter climates better. Nice color combo, too.

Elaine,

The birds that are here, eat up Agastache seed too, but I don't fault them. Especially the ones that are here during the Winter. You're probably right in that they poop out the seeds somewhere else.

I've grown some Agastache varieties in containers, grow well and some of them have overwintered here.

Agastache rupestris has. Have to look for one of my pics in the container, but here is one that's in the ground, so you can get an idea of what it looks like.

Agastache mexicana Acapulco® Salmon & Pink has been grown in a container, but didn't overwinter.
Here's a pic of what it looks like.

Agastache aurantiaca 'Apricot Sprite'
Grew it in a large container with a few others and it survived a couple of Winters. Don't know if it survived the Winter yet. This is what it looks like.

Agastache 'Apricot Sunrise'
Here's some pics of it in containers taken different years, hardy here, but they didn't overwinter.

Agastache 'Color Spires Pink'
I've grown it in a container and has overwintered a few years so far. I've it in the ground too.

Agastache 'Color Spires Steel Blue'
I've grown it in a container and has overwintered a few years so far. I've it in the ground too.

Agastache 'Firebird'
Grew it in a large container with a few others and it overwintered a couple of years. Don't know if it will survive this Winter yet. This is what it looks like (taken in the shade in the evening).

Agastache 'Raspberry Summer' Lovey dubby
I just planted one in a container last year and it grew well, don't know if it's going to overwinter yet. This is what it looks like.

Agastache 'Tangerine Dreams'
Grew it for one season in a container knowing it wouldn't overwinter, but it grew well.

Agastache 'Tutti-frutti'
Grew it in a large container with other Agastaches, grew well and overwintered a couple of years. Don't know if it survived this past Winter. Here's what it looks like.

Make sure the container has excellent drainage. That's what I do.

I'm still looking for green leaves on my Tutti Frutti. Hope I didn't lose it.

But it looks like Agastache Color Spires® Pink made it through another Winter in a container on the patio! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray!

I've been thinking I probably should plant it into the ground instead, since I might lose it in a container. I planted one or two Agastache rupestris plants in containers also. Might have to take a walk around to check on all my Agastaches (ground and/or containers). Thumbs up

I have Blue Fortune in my garden, grown from a Gardenweb seed trade maybe 10 years ago.

The mexicana varieties are calling me, help, must resist (but how?).

So maybe I don't have this variety. As I said I got the seed in a trade so it could be anything.
